On rock auto the oil pan gasket you can buy for my 1995 mtx is just the rubber end seals and some rtv. Has anybody done a full RTV gasket and had it work fine? I know you can generally rtv most seals instead of buying gaskets and it’ll work out, but I know some people have had negative experiences doing that with other cars, any input?

The gaskets are still available why risk it?

I learned recently was that volvo uses anaerobic sealer on their oil pans and I actually resealed my volvo oil pan with it.

Next time I drop the sho oil pan I will use the anaerobic sealer on it. We use it on our transmissions and it works great. I think it's better than rtv. There is then also no chance of it clogging oil passages or pickups.
