Anyone have an oil leak coming from the top of the oil filter before? I'm trying to figure out what exactly is leaking... I've noticed about 4-5 drops of oil fall from the oil filter every night in a piece of cardboard. The trail of oil goes up the side of the oil filter but I can't really see where it goes after that. I loose maybe 3/4 quart of oil every 5,000 miles (my oil change schedule) so its not a huge leak. I'm just tired of having to park on card board every night so I don't stain my roommate's brand new drive way. :nut:

Oil pan is dry so I'm guessing it has something to do with the filter bung....

^It's a simple job bud. Just empty the coolant before you begin or you will get an antifreeze bath. The only special tool I think you'll need is the 30mm socket (IIRC) to remove the filter nut/housing. Good luck with it.

Does it ever stop Liberty? I know whenever I change mine or my brothers oil, it will leak a few drops upon initial startup and then stop. (Not sure why it does that).

Its continuous and appears after 3-5 minutes of the engine running after an oil change.

You don't have to take it off the car to fix this. Just remove the filter then with a large socket remove the center stem. This will allow you to replace the O ring. I would not use loctite either as it is very difficult to get a grip on the slim hex and with loctite it will be next to impossible to remove it later.. It will be very tight the way it is.
