After a long run, it is time for us to part with our 1994 Moonlight Blue Ford SHO MTX. One of 1,275 made in '94 in the Moonlight Blue color and one of about 2,500 total with the manual transaxle. In short, it is one of approximately 200-300 of its kind made.
Seeing that the car is almost 20 years old, there are some good and bad points, which I will try to list below.
The good:
- Engine runs great, with no mechanical problems at 212k miles
- 60k Service (exhaustive overhaul) was recently performed only 5k ago! When sold, most SHOs are overdue for this service ($$$$).
- 60k includes (new spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, timing belt, oxygen sensors, camshaft seals, crank seal, intake gaskets, etc.)
- Coolant flush performed at the time of 60k, steering fluid flush and replacement with Amsoil Synthetic ATF
- Majority of body is in good shape for its age
- '96 SHO Front Brake Upgrade (bigger calipers, pads, rotors) for better stopping performance
- Dynomax Catback replaced a few years ago, with even newer muffler replacements
- Hard button climate control (buttons won't crack, an upgrade from a 95 SHO)
- Kenwood CD/MP3 player with aux in cable in glovebox.
- Fully working moonroof, with replacement Contour switch that won't break!
- Battery cables were completely replaced in the last few years and are good for many more years of service.
- Starter is about a year old and works great.
- Oil pan was completely resealed about 3 years ago and doesn't leak.
- Suspension was overhauled around 1.5 years ago, and is nice and tight. All swaybar links, front control arms, struts, springs, strut mounts, and wear parts were replaced.
- Clutch shifts well and pedal feels good - was replaced at around 110k with a SHONut ceramic TOB, which helps extend the life of the pressure plate over the stock Ford TOB.
- Equipped with SHONut Reinforced Front and Rear motor mounts - should be good for a lifetime of service and they won't separate like the stock motor mounts.
- Air Conditioning was recently serviced this past summer, with a leak test and full recharge of R-134a. It works great!
- Other recent new parts: oil pressure sender, thermostat, temp gauge sender, cam position sensor, crank position sensor, water pump, radiator hoses.
- Aluminum subframe bushings for better steering/shifting and sporty feel
The bad:
- Rust spots that will need attention
- Alignment should be checked as the steering wheel sits at an angle.
- Oil leak on one front cam seal that must not have taken. This is the only place AFAIK that is leaking, as all other seals have been replaced.
- Emergency Brake cables have been disabled to avoid rear calipers getting stuck - an unfortunate Ford problem
- Driver seat leather is cracked/torn in a few places
- Steering wheel has some wear on the leather
- Shifting a bit touchy, may need adjustment but the car is drivable as-is.
- One of the rear windows currently doesn't open (bad motor?)
Extras:
- K&N Air Filter
- Spare Moonlight Blue hood in great condition (no rust)
- Seasonal Wheels/Tires
+ Yokohama W.drive tires on silver slicers
+ Yokohama S.drive Z-rated summer tires, on rare white slicer wheels
With all the listed upgrades and extra items - asking $1,200 OBO. If you have any additional questions, feel free to ask. The extras can be sold separately, so we're willing to deal even more if they are left behind.
I am available to show the car, and timing is quite flexible. Looking to find this car a new home and free up driveway space!!
Thanks for looking! (Pictures in the next post...)
