How long has this been sitting? Good likelihood of corrosion and or critter based wiring issues along with the normal really old car potential issues. Any water leak into the car? I am hoping it is a failed part that is easy to find. I remember wiring under the seat chafing/shorting issues but I forget if that was GenI/II or GenIII.

Do you have one of these? Makes reading codes a little easier than paperclip

Not sure how long it was sitting before I got it. Lots of leaves and dirt, but it was also under trees in the guy's driveway, so hard to say. I guess I do need to pull the codes, but I wasn't sure how much help they would be on the old OBD 1 system. Do they get into much detail, or is it more like "01 Engine Broken" level? The last pre-OBD 2 vehicle I had was an old 1992 Mercedes 300SL, and getting useful info out of that computer was like pulling horns off a jackalope. Does the tester offer more insight than the paper clip method? As to water leaks, I have not seen any evidence on the inside of the passenger compartment and the headliner is already pulled off the sunroof. Thanks for whatever help you can offer me. Still a bit of a learning curve with this car.

The code reader makes life easier as the unit will count the flashes and give you a number. This eliminates human error counting flashes and getting confused with pauses between flashes. It is, as you know, way different from obd 2 but it really can help point you the right direction and save time. Not pinpoint accurate but worth it a majority of the time

Well, I tried doing the counting method and you are correct that it makes it a challenge to keep the counts straight. As best as I could keep up, I got a 112, a 212, a 215, a 528, a 538, and a 552... maybe? I think maybe I should go run them again, only this time instead of trying to keep count and write them down live, maybe I will take a video on my phone and then go back afterward and try counting them that way so I can pause the video between individual codes.

On the bright side, my radio suddenly started playing music again. So while my car has gremlins, at least they finally learned how to sing?

Here's a Youtube video I made showing the code flashes. It starts with the KOEO, then the KOER, and then the Cylinder test. Anyone want to take a stab at telling me what these codes are reading?

211, 214, 528 are the KOEO codes

The ABS light needs to be punched in the face
Thank you. So what I am understanding about all those is that 1) my A/C compressor is not coming on due to the 528 code, which may be the CCRM module having a problem with the internal relay for the A/C, 2) the 211 code is telling me that I need a new camshaft position sensor, and 3) the 214 code is saying that I need a new crankshaft position sensor, and most likely a new water pump if it has been leaking on it. Am I right about all that, or am I missing something else?
