Pretty sure the flow rate and it opening earlier helps keep the temps down. Instead of it opening at 178*, it's open at 160*. I barely notice a difference in everyday driving (coolant temp is displayed on torque at all times), but it does help on the big end. 1/4 mile pulls I'm down 10-15* with the 160* tstat.

Ok so youd think then, that even with the stock one still on, the tune would have the fans come on at 160. Right? I mean its just a tstat. No sensors are involved? Im just trying to figure out why the stock one cant work with that part of the tune

Yes, the tune would still do its' thing with the stock tstat in place. Just won't be effective since there is no coolant flow through the rad till much later.

So i shouldnt worry about including that part of tune unless i get the 160 correct?

Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

If the fans come on at 160 and there is a 178* thermostat, the fans will never turn off.

So the question i have is this. I get a tune accounting for the tstat. But i dont have one. THe fans come on earlier like you say. The old one has a higher operating range. So if you the fans come on earlier and stay on longer, shouldnt it still be in a safe range? What is going to be the difference in how the part behaves? Just curious to know if it has been tried and to what success!

The factory tstat will still only open and operate inside of its designed temps. Turning the fans on earlier and keeping them on is a byproduct of the tstat opening earlier. If the tstat is still closed nothing will happen except for you robbing a few ponies from the car. Your car is far more smart than what you are giving it credit for...COMPUTERS SMH! You can't force the stock tstat to open the valve on it is temp controlled...aftermarket is the only way to go.

Ok. Was just trying to wrap my head around the concept. Thought stock tsta would still benefit a little. Guess not. Oh well. Thanks

Was that next purchase I made after tuning the car. I forgot that year is your car. I would do the oil cooler retrofit too. Another cheap insurance too.

Did you already do meth? Thought that was required for the 4+ tunes on the 10-12 cars?

I suggest skipping the 4+ tunes...go with the 3bar tunes, 4x ones...smoother overall daily driver.

Meth is not needed

Tstat, a must in my book...especially if you run it into triple digits any.

I think sticks was referring to stages of packages to buy, I'm stating the tunes you actually get.
