All I've ever run in the car is 93 with the car stock, Stage 2 and now Stage 4. Car seems fine running 93 with Stage 4.

Give it a try and go easy. I run it and like it. Just make sure you run good juice.

Go easy? Is there a reason I should go easy? Something related to running 93 octane with a 94 tune? If I wanted to go easy I'd stick with the stock tune.

Got 15 miles on the Stage IV in bumper to bumper lunch time traffic, so no chance to give it a good test yet.

just got the stage III up and running on my car...

wow its way different than stock. feels great.

my torque app is reading about 40 or so more hp than the stock tune, i havent had time to give her a good flogging and try to get a couple 1/4 mile runs in, but in time I will.

see my previous post.
I have no way of knowing how easy or how aggressive drivers are. Same as you have no idea of how "easy" I drive.:) -- I don't drive around like it's a Prius I can tell you that.

What I meant was not to treat her like she's at the Indy 500. For that kind of driving I believe Rick cautioned to use higher than 93 octane juice.

Drive as you please. I'm just cautioning to drive easy to see how you and the car responds to the more aggressive tune.

Showgun, I hope you didn't take my post combative or questioning, it was actually a serious question that may have read wrong. Anyway there are times that I definitely drive it like I stole it. But that is not the norm.

What are the side effects of driving it aggressively with 93 on a 94 tune? I mean is 1 octane point that big of a deal?

No side effects of driving it aggresively. I drive my car hard everyday, never had an issue.

No off tone sensed at all. No worries.
I too feel this is serious business since we're dealing with big bucks rides here, and we wouldn't want to get into an unnecessary issue.

So long as there's no side effects of overheating and pinging/detonation, it probably won't hurt to drive aggressively with any of the tunes.
There are at least a few who I know of running Livernois Stage IV without issues and I'm sure they don't pu$$y foot around either.
I'm also quite sure they don't drive it like a race-car either.

I'm sure you can have some fun without destroying her -- just listen for anything going on in the engine that might give a hint to overstress.

That's what I'm **** except that I'm being a little more careful since I'm running 91 octane for now.

Please forgive my ignorance... and feel free to direct me elsewhere if this thread is not the right place for this question, but could someone explain to me how easy/hard it is to download the tune and remove it later? With the tune can you still go to get dealer service or do you just remove and add the factory tune for the day? I've made exactly 1 payment on my 2011 Tuxedo Black SHO (with 402a as the ONLY installed option) but am very interested in getting more out of her... obviously with a whopping 2k miles, I am NOT interested in breaking anything or getting any grief from the service guys for mods. (you can call me chicken, too!)

Be kind- first post... but I've been reading for months!

Thanks in advance!

Takes about 10 minutes for me to load (or unload) a tune. that is form the time I unlock the car, to the time it is done and running.

After reading this thread, I am going home and loading my stage 3. I have been running around on Stage 2 for a month and love it. I didn't realize how much I loved it until I took a trip to Oklahoma last weekend, and put it back to stock before the trip since 93 octane is impossible to find in OK.

It's fairly simple, the first time you install the tune it takes about 30 minutes for the tuner to store the stock settings and install the tune. I understand how you feel, I was kinda worried too. I used Stage 2 for months before the evil side of me, wanted to stick in Stage 4. The tunes are AWESOME, I'll repeat what I've said several times, I have never spent better money for any single performance upgrade in my entire life, and I've been spending money on performance parts since the 60's.
Once you have a tune it is really easy to return it to stock if you are going for service, takes like 10 minutes. I have a really great working relationship with my service manager so he is aware of the tune in the car, so he can inform me if they are going to do any reflash or if I can leave the car tuned. I have never had a problem with my dealer being aware of the car being tuned, and I have had the tunes in the car for around 7 months. But most guys here do return the car to stock before going to the dealer just to CYA.
I can't even begin to tell you how much the Livernois tunes improved this car, I can't imagine the car without the tune. Because I was the "Doubting Thomas" type I didn't think it would be as great as everyone said, but it was, I wish I would have got the tune sooner. Even so, my car only had about 6500 miles on it when I installed the tune. If you get the tune, you will be very pleased with the results. As I stated earlier, I ran Stage 2 for months before Showgun and a few others "twisted" my arm and I installed Stage 4. Hope this helps you decide, good luck! But GET THE TUNE!:dribble:

Your dealer sounds like a good one Mark. Kudos to him for not freakin' out at the sight of (or hint of) mods.

Welcome AudiobobRN and congrats on the new SHO.
As Mark says the Livernois tune will wake up the SHO dramatically and well worth the investment. One of the cheapest and easiest bangs for the buck you'll come across.

I got my car dynoed stock, then stage 3 and finally stage 4 with no other mods on the car back about 6 weeks ago. It was on a dynapack, which is supposed to be the most accurate as they remove the wheels and put the dyno instead. I posted the results in a previous thread, but the results were +20hp at wheels from stock to stage 3 and +30hp at wheels with stage 4. However, the power was held longer than stock. So I would say that stage 4 by itself would add close to 40hp to the engine, but it certainly kick a$$... Kickdowns are powerful, less hesitation, faster shifting... gotta love it! Maybe with the addition of Airaid CAI and an exhaust you could see up to 50hp, but for more power, you have to go with methanol like Darelli or a custom tune with more boost. If my memory is good, I believe stage 2 and 3 are +1.5 psi of boost and stage 4 +2.5psi (maybe Rick from LMs can confirm). I think Beefcake that ran 12.75 only on a tune was using +5 psi (not recommended if you car for your car).
Cheers!

Been running stage IV for a bit now on 93. Honestly I haven't noticed a real difference, maybe a slight seat of the pants feeling, between it and stage III. Does stage IV on 93 create as much power as expected, or is 94 really required to make the extra power? I guess what I am asking does it make sense to run stage IV on 93 (when the tune calls for 94) versus stage III on 93 (as called for)?

Shifting almost feels better on stage IV but my understanding is there are no tranny differences between the two. Psychological perhaps. Tires seem to chirp in stage IV rather than hop in stage III though.
