Yes I scraped off the old gasket, lubed the O rings with antifreeze, and put a lil dabb of rtv on the thin o ring that goes to the block. Does the tube snap into the water pump?

remove the water put and the down tube assembly and make sure the gaskets on the down tube are not leaking....also consider this: I did the same thing and found that not only did I use the wrong type of oring (it melted) but my freeze plug was desintegrating to the point where it was leaking. Ouch.

I've seen this as well (freeze plug problem).

I think this is going to be the next "problem" issue for some over the next few years, especially given the difficulty in accessing/replacing some of the freeze plugs.

Unless you have to remove the rear water pump housing, it's best to leave it in place when replacing the pump itself.

The 14-20 year old o-rings usually swell about 50% beyond their original size, and even with all the **** in the world it's still a good bet you're going to mangle that old o-ring when putting the rear pump housing back on. So if you have to remove the rear housing, just get new o-rings.

Thanks guys got the leak fixed. It was the o ring behind the water pump! She's good to go now.
