Like the title says, the car makes a knocking noise after one or two WOT runs. It does it maybe 30-45% of the time. The noise will go away if I shut the car off and let it sit for 10~20 minutes. Ive never seen the dummy red oil light come one which leads me to believe that its not my rod bearings..Some people told me it might be the timing belt tensioner but I dont know what on the tensioner would make this noise..The bearing??

I usually ocurrs when I nail it from 25, which is a sweet spot for an ATX. Its undoubtfully the hardest downshift in any ATX.

Im gathering all the parts for a front 60k but if the tensioner is bad then I want to replace it. Im also ordering the rod bearing kit from RCM.

The car has a mystery low coolant light that comes on and off too, along with an oil leak thats driving me batty. So I figure, rod bearings, oil pan seals, front main seal, timing belt, CPS, waterpump to block gasket and all the other gaskets inside the oil pan/bottom end.

Also the metal looking gasket between the block and tranny seems to be leaking, what is that called and can I replace it with the oil pan off?? Are there any other gaskets that could fail and cause and oil leak or should be replace just cause while im down there??

If anyone knows what fails on the tensioner causing a knocking noise, Let me know, its ******* me off.

TIA for any help

Where is the sound coming from? Under the timing belt cover = timing belt tensioner. Under the valve covers = timing chains. The fuel rails = get your injectors cleaned.
