I just read this read through this whole thread and it went from interesting to kinda sad! Did OP keep driving the SHO? Or is the wife enjoying the SHO?
Nobody really answered this but GHT tuning will certainly work with you on a custom tune. I’m sure most tuners mentioned here would.

The two fastest so far are AJP and GHT.

Wish I could tell you. I uploaded the tune last Friday night, drove it lightly on Sat so everything could relearn. Then went to work on Sunday and wouldn’t be home until Friday. A buddy of mine drove me down there (we carpool and it was his week), so the Taurus sat home. Until the wife decided she was going to take it out on Thursday. Needless to say, she couldn’t handle the extra spike in power:

It’s at the dealership now getting repaired. Never even got to test it out...
I won't let my wife drive the SHO. She backed my 2001 740i Sport into a brick mail box. That was it for her!

As a follow up to the original story... the wife ended up taking ownership of the car (you break it you buy it) after we got it back from being repaired. She drove it for a few more years before trading it in on a new 2021 Chevy Trailblazer. She wanted a SUV/crossover type vehicle, and the sedan just didn't do it for her (then you shouldn't have driven and wrecked it, honey).

I ended up getting a 2016 Audi S4 to replace it. Did some bolt-ons and am running a E40 tune on that and am knocking on the door to a 10-sec pass in the 1/4 mile. It's quite the upgrade over the SHO, although I do miss driving that car.

Hey if I wanna tune my fully stocked SHO I can just buy the tune from
The site and do I need to know anything about how todo it or will it do it by it self? Im
Gonna just put for now a k&n air
Filter (not the whole system) instead of the stock and maybe later buy an intercooler and better turbos but for now as it is will I be able to get it done without knowing much about it or it will be a mistake I shouldn’t make my self?

you'll need an sct tuner and new map sensor. I also upgraded the spark plugs and added a K&N. you can add the intercooler and larger turbos later. Use the phone number for the Gearhead website. They will sell you everything you need. Around $1000 total, if memory serves. Others will chime in. No regrets here after 4 years. Best car I ever owned.

Do you have a windows computer? You'll need open end wrenches and a spark plug socket also. If these are outside your wheelhouse, talk to a mechanic. The tune will come via your email, and you will download the tune(s) into your computer. Then, the computer programs your SCT tuner. The tuner then plugs into your OBD port and you follow easy instructions prompted by the tuner. The map sensor is necessary to get higher boost pressure, and the plugs ward off the spirits of detonation!!!
