JBL Audio Question

My factory sub sounds like crap... not blown kinda like it's not getting power from the amp or osomething, is there a fuse i can check somwehere? It's a 93 in case thats something that needs to be known.

if its not getting power from the amp, then you shouldnt hear anything. A sub doesnt have to be staticky to be blown, if you can hear something, but barely, the sub is probably blown. Replace it anyways with an aftermarket, it will sound a lot better :)

ya ... i need to know too ... what size and what aftermarket sub goes best with the factory JBL amp ? should it be 8 ohm or what ??

the factory sub that sits in the box is 6 1/2" and is 4 ohm. most people here that feel like using the factory box replace it with an 8" doing slight modification. you should be able to use an 8 ohm speaker in there but the output will be slightly lower, not really noticable IMO. i think the easiest thing to do if you feel putting in an 8" is too much work is to go find a 6 1/2" woofer that's part of a component speaker set and just screw it in where the original used to be cause 6 1/2" subs are hard to find. actually i think bazooka and kenwod make them still but you'll have to buy the whole setup cause they only put them in their prefab tubes/boxes. way back i had an extra set of alpine components laying around, so i just took the woofer from one and used the tweeter and crossover for something else.
