Could the fact that my climate control's outside temp is messed up and showin' it's about 20 degrees cooler have anything to do with my tranny messin' up? It just started around the same time.

What's this "98 shift plates" stuff? Sounds interesting...

I believe the sensor for the A/C is located by the IRCM under the radiator shield and if it gets wet it acts stupid. I recall someone mentioning on the Shotimes list that it not only talks to the A/C but the computer to tell it how cold it is (or isn't) and you may get funky drivability.

half-way there, I think.
If the tranny uses outside air temp for any settings - it would either have it's own temp sensor or would use the ACT. The screwy readings from it will have no effect on engine performance.

I don't know exactly what they did to my transmission but from what I was told, they put in the plates outta a '98 SHO and did some other stuff. All I know is the transmission feels like a Gen III rather then a Gen II's sloppy stuff... If you'd like to know what exactly was done, you can call Craig Davison at Whiteker Ford in Minnesota. He's the guy I bought the SHO from and he and a couple other guys there did they transmission work when it was his wife's car. :D

Check into replacing the climate control sensor.. I let my subscription to Alldatadiy lapse so I'm sort of in the dark on it's exact function or part number. Did your car get especially wet up front one day? They act weird when they're soaked but usually return to normal after they dry off. I think the sensor's location makes it stay wet though.. not sure
