I'm just going to point out that theres a bit too much trolling from non ecoboost owners in this section...

its a shame but I've also noticed that some people have been mostly using the PM's for advice instead of making a more useful thread about their problem.
its not being clicky but just some people here would like to get straight to the point instead of scrolling through mindless babble that could of been posted in the Offtopic section...

we all have one thing in common, the passion for cars and especially for the SHO's I highly Doubt any stuck up bastard will be doing any form of Gen Avoiding. if anything anyone would probably be side tracked too interested in what their other gen member has done or dealt with.

now if you guys just have nothing else to do and only know about this forum
I can recommend other forums with a lot more hourly online traffic than you can imagine
some guys like 6spdonline, some like ferrarichat, some like dieselstation, if you like top gear you should definately be on finalgear.com, for the billionaire playboys you might like gtspirit.com (i admit i like checking the road rally section) think you can polish/wax a car? guess what? you probably can't! and should check out autopia.org

everyone doesn't have to sit on the same forum 24/7

I just thought this was a place for info and general knowledge. Who know? And I help build this things.

this thread needs less tampon. of course the EB guys are CLIQUEY...they're all still relatively new and most have no experience with prior generations of SHOs. having been on this forum for damn near 1/3 of my life, i know that if one of them strayed and asked a silly question, he'd be greeted with angry mob responses of "USE THE SEARCH, NOOB!" the thing is, most of em haven't been around long enough to truly understand the heart of this forum, and how tight of a community this really is. give em time, folks, and remember what it was like when you first stumbled stupidly onto this board...i'll bet more than one of has had your life altered on one level or another because of this small corner of teh interwebs, and it's now time to welcome our new brethren with open hearts and minds and show em what this family's really about.

Wow, some of us just want to learn about our own generation of cars first. Being this is my first SHO, I want to learn about it first. If it offends some people that the only section I look in is this one than "oh well".

I think you misunderstood my post. I didnt mean that I hate people without money. I meant that I do not want to read every other post saying how jealous people are because they cant afford the car. Its nothing against people with other generations of the SHO. I have nothing but respect for the previous generations as it was the American answer to four doors with big motors. Although Ive never owned one and dont have a desire to do so that does not mean I dont have respect for those that own them, work on them, and drive them.
I'm totally jealous of your car payment

If you knew James, and didn't take his post to heart, you wouldn't have called him a troll, or his post flame bait.

Secondly, instead of generalizing the rest of the community based on one thread out of tens of thousands, why not just spend some time lurking in the other forums to get a feel for how everyone is instead.

Informed decisions are always a better way to go than jumping to conclusions. Just saying.

As far as people staying in their different cliques...

Of the few 2010 owners I know, most are pretty down to earth people save for one or two who love to talk about the older cars and so on. And some aren't. So be it. That said, I'm sure that of the Gen 4 owners that make it to the convention in July, few if any will be sitting on the sidelines sticking their noses up at the rest of us "commoners" if it's anything like last year.

Just my $0.02

I do browse the other sections. I was just saying that his post wasn't helping things. I guess if I knew him I'd understand he was joking?

I dont think thats a fair observation. At the convention this past year I pretty much only talked to guys with other Gen SHO's. This is my first Taurus so I dont really have the history or knowledge of the other generations so I dont really post in the other sections. Believe me, Im just a firefighter, not like I have sooooo much that I think that I'm any better than anyone else

Ex-firefighter here, and just happy to be part of all the SHO family - new and old.

I do understand, somewhat. I appreciate what you're saying. Like I knew when I posted this thread, most people immediately take it to heart. That is not how this is meant.

I get what you're saying. Just hope you are understanding exactly what I am saying as well. This forum actually made me want to find an MTX SHO as another car. I'm still deciding between that or a p71 vic to go back and forth to work with.

I'm totally jealous of your car payment

:dribble: If only I had one.

I agree that posters should normally research their issue(s) before fishing or just being lazy. That is why I rarely go to G8 related boards, because it is just re-hashing the same old ....same old. However, with our EB engines/drive trains, much is new, and some continuing problems have new solutions.

Actually all this banter between diff.. generations of cars & guys is good. We are interacting and not just blowing smoke about our own toys! I LOVE "FLUFF" no matter what it's about! BS RULES!

It's "cliquey". If such a word even exists, but the root is "clique".

Sorry. Just had to get that out.

Old SHO owners come here because they have a problem...or are expecting one...with their SHO..or just got their first car and it's a 20 year old Ford. Therefore, relationships with people that have years of experience with SHOs is important to them....cause god knows...when they get their original problem fixed...there'll be another one.

Not the case with new SHO owners. Most of them don't have a problem and if they do...they're not on the hook for fixing it...the dealer is. So they don't need to hang around. If they choose to hang around...they'll probably hand around with other NEW sho owners.

New SHO owners probably don't have much interest in 21 year old manual transmission beater Taurus' so naturally, they don't hang out in the gen1 performance upgrades section and I don't blame them.

the new SHO is a different animal and it will attract a different breed of car enthusiast.

It may be "cliquey" but with good reason and I certainly wouldn't take it personally.

Wonder how many Gen 4 owners also owned any of the previous generation SHOs?

I had an original '89 SHO. Wonderful car. I was so happy when the new one was announced and had to get one. I really like this one too though the two cars are completely different.

Wow. I get along with everyone. I would love a new SHO, but that's not in the cards anytime soon. I am having mutch more fun playing with the older SHO's. I have made it to several conventions, helped numerous people with advice, parts, and towing!!! This is all part of the fun. I belong to several car groups, have attended several gatherings, and I still say the SHO communutity is the best! If it wasn't for the people I have met over the years, I would have left the SHO world, and moved on. As I type this, I believe that I will own a SHO for the rest of my life.

Come see me at the convention this year! A black pickup over flowing with spare parts and tools, and a ugly green 91+ that run's near the top of the pack!

The 4th gen SHO is the first Ford that I've ever owned so I really don't see myself frequenting the other gen forums that much.

The only reason that I even looked at the new SHO when deciding on my next car was because my older brother had a brand new 1991 SHO and it was the first car that I EVER drove at the young age of 14. It was black on black and was the coolest car in the neighbourhood. My brother babied that thing and wouldn't let people even touch it for fear of fingerprints on his daily-washed paint job. One of the reasons that I love my brother so much is that he actually taught his dorky 14 year old little brother how to drive in his beloved SHO. It was a great car that still brings back fond memories for me so when the new one came out, I had to check it out. After the first drive, I was in love again :)

I guess what I'm saying is that while I've never owned an older gen SHO, I do have some history with them. My fear on frequenting the other gen forums would be that I really have nothing to add if the main goal there is to get help on repairs, performance upgrades and anything else pertaining to those cars.

I don't think that I'm being "cliquey" I'm just visiting the forum that has the most to offer to me. I do like hearing from the older gen SHO guys in these threads though. The experience that you guys have counts for A LOT in my books...... :thankyou:

Not for lack of wanting. .. just was never in the market at the time or didn't have the $$ at the time.
Like Zeus, this one is the first sho I've owned.

I'm sure the GEN 1, 2, and 3's are much appreciated -- after all: that's why we're where we are today with SHO's still in the limelight.

I traded in my 2007 Infiniti G35s with 12k miles on the odometer for a 2011 SHO partly because of my past SHO experiences. Ever since I first saw under the hood of my uncle's 1991 SHO I wanted one. After I got my first job I bought a 7 year old 1993 SHO ATX (all I could find), had a couple vehicles between it and my 1998 SHO which I traded in on a 2004 Lincoln LS V8. That LS got traded in for my G35s, which then got traded in for the 2011 SHO. The final straw in getting the 2011 was how much I enjoyed riding in and driving my wife's 2010 Lincoln MKZ. It was apparent Ford had come quite a ways in quality since my 1998 and definitely since the 1993.

My experiences with older SHO's was why I considered and bought the EB Brick ("my SHO WAGON")! Had the G8 GT's not come out first, would have at least one SHO sedan. G8 is lighter, was cheaper initially, and handles exceptionally well as it's rear drive. And... if you bought one cheap when GM was on the ropes, it is worth almost what you paid.

Would consider an older SHO as a project car, but most have been ridden hard.... and... not an ASE mechanic with a full shop or the space for all the parts.
