Just bought a 2013 SHO. Loving it so far and will tune it with the appropriate mods in a few months.

In the meantime, can I add an intake to an otherwise stock car, no tune, and be fine? OR do I need the tune to have the CAI?

I know gains are marginal, I just love that whoosh. Had a 2011 stage 3 WRX, and the whoosh made it so much more enjoyable to get on it.

Thanks!

Sure you can add the intake . Like you said any gains in hp will be minimal if any ! Or use a drop in k&n filter and keep the stock box. Then tune and cai. If u tune it let them know if your using a intake or not so u get a proper tune. Drive on !

Is the mdesign intake audible like the afraid intakes? Love it and it seems to have good results, just need that whoosh!

On that end it’s not at the level of the air raid with m design being inclosed it doesn’t provide the big audible difference

You will not get any gain from a CAI. The OEM unit is already more than required. NEW DPs will give you 20HP.

No other mods needed with downpipes to achieve that 20hp ? Any certain downpipes ?

Just vent your BOV to atmosphere. You can have all the whoosh you can get.

No, just DPs gives 20HP. These are the LMS DPs but any good quality 2.5" DP would work. But they aren't cheap so, it isn't the most bang for the buck.

Probably a warranty voider if I use them? Only 9800 miles on mine. Intentions are to keep it stock ! idk if I can if I do do somethings just suttle changes I want. Maybe a tune at the least. Do the DP’s change the sound of the exhaust I like it smooth and quiet.

I don't think the sound will change much unless you delete the cats and or put on different mufflers. Not sure if they would void the warranty. I guess if the dealer wants to knit pick they might.

Airaid intake does for sure increase the engine noise and allows you to hear the turbos sucking air and a bit of blow off valve noise...

Real world gains are not much unless you are tuned... even then it’s at the higher RPMs and you need to be moving a lot of air... so think meth injections or bigger fuel pump to really see any advantage...

Downpipes will void warranty. They change the back pressure on the turbos. I had a long discussion with two dealerships about this...

And DPs alone will not change the exhaust note much if at all... you will hear the turbos spool a bit more but that’s it.

Any the only place that sells catted DPs that won’t throw a code is PPE. All others will throw a code.

Happy modding!
