did the rim survive? Driving to work this morning, I hit probably a tire scrap that put a wire in my tire and tore my side skirts (at least I wasn't driving the SHO)

Yeah, just scuffed. Tire rack is trying to get my to submit a road hazard warranty but I'm pretty sure I didn't hit anything, and the sidewall just blew out.

With aftermarket and hard to find rims--try to get an extra for stuff like this. Otherwise you end up getting a whole new set if one gets f'd

The idle isn't nearly as wonky as it used to be and isn't pulling hard when I'm braking anymore. I do now get a flickering CEL while accelerating but I'll have to check the codes on that when I get back home.

Thanks for all the help!

So the CEL was being caused by my crank position sensor going out.

Idle is still garbage. Changed out the TPS, ACT and ECT with no luck. I'm going to pull codes again but if it isn't just a bad IAC I have no idea where to look.

Check voltage at the TPS. Your throttle body might need adjusting.

Picked up a replacement TPS but the bottom screw stripped out. Mike sold me a replacement TB and screws so I can just swap in the new TPS and extract the old one on my own time.

Unfortunately my relatively new tire lost all pressure on the highway today and possibly trashed my rim, so I have to pull that off and see what happened.
Went to take a hack at getting the screw out so I can clean it up and have a spare. Vise gripped the shaft and it just sheared right off. Glad I got the spare TB before I did that! This one is junk now.

Grind that one flush and then use a LH drill bit to get it out.

The middle wire on the connector is the signal wire. It looks like you measured it correctly. This diagram is actually for a Foxbody TPS but its pretty much the same thing other than the starting voltage for the SHO should be between .9 and .99. You might try adjusting your throttle plate a little to see if that helps your idle.

Thanks @Irish Pride I'm starting to think I got a bum idle air bypass valve. If the TPS isn't malfunctioning, I can't really think what else would be causing this behavior at idle.

Unplug the IAC while it's running. If the throttle body is adjusted properly the car should still run with the IAC unplugged but the rpms will be lower than normal. If you unplug the IAC and the idle smooths out then it's my opinion that you need another IAC. If it doesn't smooth out then you have another issue.

Have you checked for codes? There can be stored codes without having a CEL.

I just re-read this post. If I unplug the IAC the car immediately dies. So it definitely needs a TB adjustment?

Based on the voltage numbers you posted I would say you need to adjust the throttle body. Fully closed you should get voltage of .9 to .99 at the TPS.

Idle issues are still ongoing. I decided I needed the diagnostic manual for this so I can troubleshoot all the little bits as I'm starting to believe this is PCM related. I bought an EVTM on eBay and silly me!

501

So now I have the gigantic 1400 page engine/emissions manual in the mail now. Hopefully that can get me through this troubleshooting. It hasn't stranded me yet, but it's definitely not fun to drive.
