What is the max. depth for the front door speakers? And also what is the major interference if you went deeper? I haven't seen the inside of the door in a while and don't feel like taking the door panel off yet. Thanks.

well, i dont have the mounting depth offhand but i will report to you the depth of my speakers shortly, the window is your only real obstacle, which unfortunately we can do nothing about. ok apparently circuit city says my pioneer speakers have a "top mount depth" of 1&5/8 inches and i think they were damn close to the limit. now if you were creative you could fabricate some kind of mount to pull it out from the door more towards the speaker grille if you had to im sure. if you had the screws you could probably turn the stock mount from the JBL system around and i think you could get like 1 or 2 8th's of an inch. i like the fact that these doors only have 2 screws holding them in :D makes changing speakers out in a hurry nice and easy.

Gary, my 6.5" Image Dynamics mids just BARELY clear the window and the window lift mechanics. They have a mounting depth of 3" and I used the stock metal mounting brackets and just torched off about 1/4" all the way around the inside circumference so that the 6.5s would fit.
