So i have questions about how the forward collision warning system works.
I had two instances the other day (friday) and once today. It went off, beeping and flashing the red led bars across the driver side windshield briefly then stopped. There were no cars ahead of me nor was I close to anyone. It scared the crap outta me and I immediately scanned ahead to see if any cars were ahead, none. Caught me off guard when it sounded. Lol

1. Is this normal?

2. Does it automatically revert to default "on" after starting up the car? I have it deselected in my car's settings menu.

3. Would this affect anything when I have the ACC selected to "normal" instead of "adaptive"? Are the two correlated?
Sorry for all of the questions I'm just getting to know how these systems work as I've never had a car with forward collision warning, emergency automatic braking and adaptive cruise control as added optional equipment. TIA! My car again is a 2015 Ford taurus SHO 117k

I've had that happen to me a couple times too, even though I'm not going fast and/or braking hard or seems like I'm near any kind of collision.
I think it could be just the sensor in the front lower grille picking up or giving off false signals tricking it into thinking there's a car and/or objects up ahead. I might have to reset my sensitivity settings for it. Nifty but I want to avoid the automatic emergency braking kicking in suddenly and causing an unnecessary accident!

I've never had it go off without a reason, a number of times I felt like it was being overly conservative (car not exactly in my lane but still very close turning a corner for example, wouldn't have hit it but would have come very close to it if it had continued to slow). I always leave it and ACC on but they should be two separate functions despite using the same hardware. Not sure if it defaults back to on. If you really don't like it or it continues to be a problem and you don't want to fix it it can be disabled via forscan, not sure how well documented it is though the CCM/HUD etc are much more "black box" than a lot of components when it comes to as-built info etc.

Right right! I usually just set it ti where the gap ahead as far as the forward collision warning system goes to "closest". The ACC i have yet to try out. Lmao
