:woo-hoo: I got the block from the machine shop thursday. The heads have been done for awhile and on the shelf. Spent yesterday and today getting parts recleaned and everything ready to put it together. I'll start doing that in the A.M.

I took some pictures and will take more as I work on it. It feels great to be doing this.

This going to be another performance build or are you rebuilding it to stock specs? Let's see some pics!

Performance build with just about the same specs as the last one.

Did figure we might have been down on a little power due to pre det in the firing.

Ah, in that case, subscribed! Your engines are some of the most interesting SHO engines, to me at least.

Mattsho, the block has been bored, deck shaved, crank destroked, high dome forged pistons with dropped pin hieght, rods shot peened and lightened, the whole rotating assembly has been lightened and old school balance on it.

The whole intake assembly down thru the heads has been opened, no secondary butterflies, the heads have been shaved, larger valves w/heavy valve springs.

Running pure N/A

Thanks everyone for the comments, My lady has gotten worse and not expected to be around much longer, money is tight but I'm trying to get out to the sat for theWorld Finals In Oct.

Sorry to say, I have not seen or heard of your build up to now. A few questions for you:

You bored out a 3.0 or 3.2L ?

Any concerns about de-stroking the crank? I've heard they do not take well to having the rod journals machined, as it removes a friction coating (or micro-polishing?).

Why drop the piston pin height? (I presume to accomodate the high dome pistons?) I have read that ideally, you want to stuff in the longest rod, with highest wrist pin height...

Why remove the secondaries entirely? Not happy with any of the large or HBB secondaries available to use?

I'd be very interested to see a dyno chart for this motor setup. Sounds like it will be pretty mean. I'm a big NA guy, and have a 3.0L awaiting rebuild in the next year or two...

Ernie's engine is "cheater destroked" to permit a little larger bore thus unshrouding the valves a little. His class (in LSR) requires 3000.0000 cc's maximum. It may require stock rods don't remember.

Ernie will you be running the higher volume 3.2 oil pump?

Bored a 3.0 to about 3.150

No concerns, my cranks are polished, lightened and balanced. My problems have been oiling issues.

Why drop the piston pin height? (I presume to accomodate the high dome pistons?) I have read that ideally, you want to stuff in the longest rod, with highest wrist pin height...

When i say I dropped the pin height it means I droped it away from the piston top towards the bottom of the piston. I did this really to make up for the shorter stroke and give me higher compression ratios.

Why remove the secondaries entirely? Not happy with any of the large or HBB secondaries available to use?

I'm trying to get as much air in to the cylinders as possible and if you think about it the butterflies and rods are really just a restiction. Once the car leaves the start line it isn't going to be under 4,000 rpm.s.

I'd be very interested to see a dyno chart for this motor setup. Sounds like it will be pretty mean. I'm a big NA guy, and have a 3.0L awaiting rebuild in the next year or two...

I posted a dyno chart for one of my motors with these specks and not many people believed it. Yes I'm tooting my own horn but the motors before this one have been reall strong and I'm hoping the this one runs as wll as they did.
SHO_SC Ransom and Lance Chaney finally helped me get the car to run in
4th gear over 6,000 rpm last year.

We still don't know were top end is on this car.

Ernie, what do you have going for oil filtering and cooling?

I'd like to help with that.

Thanks :hail:

I want to run the setup that Jason showed me in the oiling post and have gotten the filter sanwich but not been able to get the cooler or lines yet, I did pick up the an-12 fittings for the sandwich tho.
