I am making a custom fender scoop and it comming along nicely. I am looking for opinions on how I should use it. Should I leave the current CAI with cone filter on and just route the scoop air through the air box into the engine bay and cool it off a little? Or put the stock box on w/ K&N pannel filter, and have the scoop directly ram cool air into the pannel filter. Which would be the best set-up?
thanks for any input.

I did a custome bumper scoop. I wish i knew how to post pics headbang I'd show you.

Mine pushes air up to an opened access hole into a shielded cone filter. It also acts like a blow horn. You can really hear it when you open the throttle :D

I don't think you're going to find any useable positive pressure there, but if you do, you're going to need a much larger inlet to take advantage of it. The few ram-air kits out there that have any serious following are really, really big, often running the width of the vehicle and a few inches high.

What you can do is get more of that great SHO intake noise. I prefer louvers or low-profile scoops to maintain the car's clean appearance. I'm eventually going to shoot for a removable panel that allows easy access to the filter. The oval K&N I have will work well as it has a lid that will face the opening, so no junk bashing the filter.

Good luck!

By putting a scoop the size of Dr. Evil's, I think you may be sacrificing aerodynamics for minimal gains.

Personally, I think a NACA duct would look the best there. They're functional and unobtrusive. Forget about getting any ram air effect below 100 MPH, and not much even then. jpshakeh

That Scoop you made WILL totally work.. As long as the air gets directly routed into the airbox from the fender with a tube or something. I played around with a few things on my 93, I took out the corner lamp, and put a tube in there, and made it stick out like you have your scoop, and it dropped my 1/4 time, and increased my speed. ala G-tech.. VERY consistant, so was easy to test the mod I did. Keep working at it looks like it will work just fine.

Just my opinion,of course.

I don't really like the look of JT's scoop or any other on the fender.

I rather sacrifice going without a driverside foglamp than cutting up my fender.

Bluto--that lower bumper scoop look pretty cool, it looks very stealth, yet still effective!! thumb I haven't liked any of the other scoops on the fenders, they stick out too much like a sore thumb, but yours looks very nicely done!!

shoinoff95 - Love the KMK logo.... :D
Yeah, me too, I like the music and concerts too!! On my 20th B-Day, my friends and I went to see them in concert and we actually got to meet D-Loc, Johnny Richter, and the whole group when we were trying to find a motel to stay at!! It was awesome!! Everyone was blitzed!! LOL!! Back in highschool, my friends and I had an indoor soccer team and we were known as the KMK.......we had the logo, green shirts, and all. My name on the back was Fat J and my # was .25!! LOL!! As a matter of fact, I still have my shirt in my closet still; only wear it on certain special occasions!! thumb

P.S. BEN--Did you notice what post # I just just went over. HA,HA oh_my

Thanks for the good feedback.
It was a bit risky hacking into the bumper, but I'm happy with the results.

I have 3" duct that feeds a shielded cone filter.
I did open the fender inlet a lot more than most people would.
