91 sho - it's 20 degrees out, but tonight the fan won't shut off. Temperature in low range of normal. I'll have to disconnect battery to shut it off or I won't have any battery left.

Stayed on for 45 minutes after work. I just took it out again and it still is running now after my return 15 minutes later.

Any ideas of the problem? Thanks

The fan motor relay in the CCRM might be your problem, or maybe the ECT sensor that tells the comp. when to turn on the fan. Those are my best guesses, so more knowledgeable people will probably be able to help you pinpoint and solve the prob.

Shorted relay in the CCRM, most likely.

With the vehicle power off, there cannot be any power to the computer or the ECT.

Anything that I can do to fix without having to take it into the shop - as in tonight, besides disconnecting the battery? I have to drive it to work in the morning. I guess I'll be bringing a wrench.

Where is it, what is it (CCRM), how much is it, can I get it in a normal parts store, and can I replace myself? Thanks for the replies. Dan

It's in the email. It's that black box under the radiator shroud. CCRM = IRCM Takes 5 mins to replace. I am unsure if you can get it at a parts store. I'm sure if you post a wanted add someone will have an extra laying around.

Try drying your CCRM (ICRM). Disconnect the connectors and make sure all the wiring and connectors are good and dry.

I had this problem when I got my ICRM wet (from washing the engine). Some artificial wind from the trusty leaf blower combined with an hour of 90 degree summer heat dried things up and the problem went away.

This morning, I reconnected the battery, and the fan went on. I slammed the hood in disgust and off went the fan. Strange, but at least it is resolved for now. Thanks for all the replies.

Definately the relay for the fan in the CCR. You can bypass it with a common relay for a few bucks . A new CCR is rather expensive.

I was going to suggest popping the top of the relay module with your hand to see if you could get the relay to change positions. I have diagnosed malfunctioning fuel pump relays in the control module with a light tap of the hand. The relay's contacts may have arc-welded themselves in the ON position from a large current surge. You may or may not have continued problems, but you should plan to replace the module.
