So this is a new one for me. Driving along yesterday afternoon with the outside temp about 90 and the A/C just shuts off meaning the blower motor as well. All the lights on the HVAC control touch pad below the radio go out. I'd been driving for about 15 minutes. I turn it back on via the "auto" button and then it shuts off again after a few minutes. Do it a 3rd time and after it shuts off again it will not turn back on. I head back home after this. during the drive back, I turn on the ventilated seat and although I hear that blower running the seat never gets cool. At home I try to turn on the AC by either hitting the "auto" button or just the A/C button and nothing is turning on. No error messages anywhere.

Later that night I go to shut the windows and figured I would give the AC a go. It turns again after I start the car with no problem. And it runs for a few minutes as well. Given this happening I am wondering if this should be a trip to the dealer since I have the ESP or if it is something minor.

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

FCIM most likely. Mine stopped doing it as frequently when I replaced the battery. If you have the warranty, I'd take it in as the entire dash has to be taken apart to replace the FCIM. You can usually turn it back on with the touchscreen, btw.

If they replace the FCIM, see if you can keep the old part. I would be interested in buying it and sending it off for repair as I've been unable to locate one.

I think I still have my old one from my 2013 Lincoln MKS. The driver's temperature increase button failed on it, but all other capacitive buttons worked. The capacitive touch IC was obsolete and I was not able to identify a drop-in component, but if the SHO uses the same IC as the MKS, then I should have a few extra working ICs if you're handy with a soldering iron.

I hung onto it with the idea that if the used FCIM that I replaced mine with failed, I'd use the two to make one work again, but last year I traded in the MKS so I no longer have a strong desire to repair the FCIM.

Thanks, SHOrod. I believe you offered me this before and I appreciate it. I have no idea if the MKS and the SHO use the same part. I wouldn't trust myself to solder the circuit board. Thanks again, though.

I had my 2016 do exactly the same thing, on off on off when ever it wanted to. It was the touch pannel.

That’s good to know. Already the climate button on the touch panel doesn’t work. if I want to turn off the whole system, I have to go onto the Sync screen to do it. Going into the dealer this Thursday for them to have a look. I’ll post an update afterwards.

Our 2013 MKS Eco also had this failure but I could not find a new panel? NLA from Ford?
All I could do was send it off for repair and that did work 100%.

I am not sure what NLA means but I am going to the Ford Dealership on Thursday and I have the ESP that should cover it.

No Longer Available.
Hope you can order it and since mine is a Lincoln I guess the panel is slightly different?

It was listed the same for mine but the dealership didn’t have any trouble getting it. I was originally going to replace it myself but was unable to source a new one.
