fac cd player???

I have a 95 SHO with the factory tape deck oh_my I was wondering if another factory ford cd deck will plug right in that harness or no?if so what year of car do I need to find a cd player out of ..i am thinking a mustang correct? thanks in advance

yes there were some years of mustang i think it was around 93-94 to 99 that used the same style of CD player, i think the thunderbird too. I'm not sure on this though. just look on ebay under ford cd player and find one that looks like the SHO cd player. or just buy and SHO cd player off ebay.

ok I found a cd player out of a mustang how do I go about finding out if it plugs right in or do I need to buy some sort of wiring for it to work? it is the single cd player that goes under the radio by the way..thanks again

There is a harness you need to make it work, it goes between the tape deck and factory wires on one of the plugs, and then also plugs into the cd player. The mustang you got the cd player should have that harness in it, or it did at one point.

There are 2 harnesses you need, one for power to the CD player and one for the signal to the tape deck. Also you need to check to see if you tape deck is really compatable with the CD player. Pull it out and see if the 6 pin plug has a jumper plug in it. If it does it will work with thte CD player, if not it won't without modification. There are instructions on SHOtimes.com on how to do it. If you have the non-compatible type and still have access to the car you got the CD player from, grab the tape deck also, it much easier just to swap tape decks than modify yopur current tape deck.

That head unit will accept the Ford CD player, but you will also need the interface cable. They sell them on eBay frequently.

Yes that deck will work. As for the cables, I just made mine out of some 9 pin serial connectors and some hot glue. I would use the real ones if you can get them but making your own will work in a pinch.

The interconnect wire is grey with the metal connectors, just like the one already connected to your head unit. As for the power connector, you unplug the power connector from the head unit, plug it into to the new harness, then the new harness splits off to a new plug to go back to your head unit, along with a new one to power the cd player. Make sure you get both the harness and the grey interconnect wire. Mine was like 4 feet long. Hey FORD, is that really necessary?
