I was just wondering if any brand makes BOV block off plates for our annoying factory BOVs. All I can seem to find for Ford Ecoboosts are for the 3-bolt design BOVs which Ford used in all cars except our platform.

I do have EPP hotpipes and I ran them for years with factory BOVs, but I’m tired of them failing and causing me mind-boggling boost issues for a while before it’s obvious. There is always the DIY permanent method but it’s my last option. I like things reversible for when and if I want to revert back. Too bad Torque Solutions don’t make one for us as their billet aluminum parts are really nice.

It just hit me I could just keep the BOVs in place and block their discharge port. Make them act as a block off plate and defoulers not to trip a code at the same time. Duh.

lol silence is great sometimes. I wanted to get those hard pipes too but use factory BOVs since I haven't done any turbo work. what exactly was the issues you had?

They creep boost back into the intake silently and until the whistle is audible or you notice your intake too noisy you’ll never know. It didn’t affect WOT but gave me highway and partial throttle issues that made me chase my tail. It didn’t show up in my smoke test either, I should have boost tested and smoked the pipes.

Until recently I didn’t know that our ECU manages throttle inlet pressure (TIP) and manifold pressure independently. I thought TIP was just a parameter but apparently the ECU may open one electric BOV to manage TIP without full relief. You lose that logic with a mechanical BOV but I think the consistency and boost holding is worth it. I do have upgraded turbos though. I will try both since either way I can revert back to what I like most.
