We have 1995 gen 2 SHO. Changed gas tank due age and leak. We also changed the fuel pump and sensor for fuel pump. Car will run for 5 to 10 minutes then shuts down like lack of fuel. Once engine cools down it fires up and goes. Some hesitation when starting from stop at first. Any one have any ideas? Keith Hutchings.

Check for engine codes. Might be a faulty crank sensor or something related to the fuel system you just addressed. Was it running ok before this?

What pump did you put in - Ford, Motorcraft, Walbro ...? IIRC, Airtex pumps used to have issues in SHOs.

If the car sat for some time, you may have gummed up fuel injectors or need a new fuel filter.

Any fuel smell in the engine compartment? Also wondering if the charcoal canister/valve might be at fault, but I have not seen that cause this particular issue.

The heat aspect, as luigisho suggests, could point to the crank sensor.
