Hi,
I just purchased my first SHO (89 5spd) last year from someone who let it sit in the sun the last 10 years. Admittedly, the engine has less than 40k miles, and the rest of the car less than 80 (towed behind a camper). After a bunch of new parts were put into it (including a new fuel pump), it seemed to run pretty well. Lately it has been doing a bit of a stutter while driving. I'll be cruising along and the car will shake as if you just took the foot off of the gas. It will do this 3 or so times and quit for a bit. Flooring it will cause it to stop the stutter, but it seems to do it again to fulfill the set (of 3 or so). I was wondering if perhaps the new fuel pump was at fault? The gas tank certainly sucks air when I remove the cap to fill up. However, removing the gas cap did not stop it while driving. Also, it idles pretty well.
As a side note, most of the dash cluster lights don't work, but the gauges do. How difficult is it to rewire/replace the dash cluster? When they towed it, they spliced into the harness to wire lights so the dash panel dim would turn off/on the radio.
I would love to hear any feedback.
