Crank Bearings

I have a 92 MTX with a 133,*** miles on it and am about to go through it, replacing sensors, and other stuff that I can afford, I am going to replace the crank bearings. What bearings should I use, Ford oem, Federal/Mogul, ?. Is there a preference or know issues for any of them? any help would be great. Thx for all the support.

You should pay $7.00 to $8.00 each (X 6) for the Rod bearings thru NAPA. They are manufactured by Michigan, Clevite 77's I don't have the number handy, I think it's CB-1435P. We just did mine, 118,000 miles. They looked worse than they actually were. (They were worn into the copper, but putting a micrometer on them, they only measured .0007 wear.) The Ford brand bearings are quite a bit more expensive. I have never heard of a problem with the main bearings. Fel Pro makes a pan gasket set. Pay close attention to the motor mounts. These are wonderful, tough engines.

At 133,000 miles, your SHO engine is hardly in need of crankshaft bearings. That is, unless you ran it without oil for a while. Still on all the originals and hauling a$$.

I agree. The only reason I changed mine was because when I started the engine up in the morning, I could hear the rods for the split second before they got oil pressure. I just flet better not hearing my connecting rods knocking cold. With me, it was strictly a matter of personal preference.
