My car is coming out of storage in about a week or so and i was wondering how many people are running hood pins. And for those who do, any body do anything special when installing them?

We didn't really do anything special. I dont have a latch on the car at all so we had to use pieces of rubber hose to get the hood to sit where it should. Could still be a little higher, but I might put the latch on at some point. Just make sure you find a good place to drill.

Do you have any close ups of of how your pins are?

I'm pinned. I also added carbon fiber overlays to the chrome plate of the pins matched to the weave. It's totally bad ass.

You'll see pics of it if I get around to post pics of this weekend's Fabulous Fords Weekend.

Anyhow, I would pin it. Just cause I'm a worry freak. On the Gen3s, it's fairly easy to pin em. On the gen2s, Im not too sure.

Good Luck!

1993mtxsho I myself don't own the carbon fiber cowl hood I own the regular cincy cowl hood, but I know a lot of guys around my area with the carbon fiber hood and if you don't tend to use hood pins the hood flies up on you a lot using the stock latch, thats why the hood pins are needed. The hood is too light and the wind causes it to fly up.

I was going to go with those pins, and dont really remember why I didn't. Mine are mounted farther out.

We couldnt find a good place to drill, so we took out the bump stops and put the pins there.
I still haven't screwed down my scuff plates :bonk:

That's the one reason I'd choose a Cincy hood over the CF hoods, not a fan of the hood pins at all.
