I haven't checked the codes but i will be tomorrow. Im simple not doing it today because im going to be doing alot to the car tomorrow and ill just do it all in one shot. Well anyway this is kinda a 2 part question. My CEL is on. It goes on after driving the car for about 2-5 mins. Then it will go off if im driving it for about another 15 mins. Ive also seen it go back on after it went off. It also always goes off when the car is turned off and turned back on?? What is causing this?? I think this is all kinda interconnected to the car running rich. Im pretty sure that the O2 sensors are shot. Could this be making the car run rich?

I think the 02 sensors are shot because i tried to hook up a air/fuel ratio gauge to the rear O2 and it wouldn't work. I was told that it was one of the white wires, so i tried one DIDN'T WORK so i tried the other DIDN'T WORK. I also did the same with the front O2 and still didn't work.

Oh and how can I tell the car is running rich you ask. Right now my exhaust is running striaght out the y-pipe. The smell tends to come right up the shifter. And i can spell the raw fuel. Don't worry im not trying to **** myself or anything, I only drive it a lil bit. Not everyday. Atleast till my exhaust is fixed. HOPEFULLY TOMORROW!!

-Thanks guys, Mike

Does you 92 have CA smog (i.e. EGR valve) if so it could be clogged egr ports. The codes will tell you when you pull them. As for the CEL going on and off it could be an intermitant sensor or the PCM is compensating to bring a sensor back into limits.

No it doesn't have a EGR on it. I hope i can run the codes sence it goes off and on.. Because you can do a simular thing on hondas with a paper clip and run the codes. My buddies car had a CEL that went off and on, and he couldn't run the code. But ill see tomorrow. Anybody else have any thoughts?

I already know about the phoenixproject website. Ive been a member on this forum for a while now, and that is just one of the first things you learn about. But thanks anyway.. I was just asking does anyone have any clue what could be making it run rich, before i grab the codes??

YES O2's are one of the main sensors that the PCM uses to determin how it schedule fuel.

what codes did you pull

I pulled codes 172,176,177,332 and 543 today.Does that mean o2 sensor, EGR valve or a possible fuel pump. Thanks for any input

Ignore the 543 code. It always attaches itself to the O2 codes. 332 is EGR code - see shotimes.com for a possible fix. The 17x codes are O2 sensors.
