I have this wierd problem were my cd-changer skips when i brake hard. anyone else have this problem? i originally thought it was a couple scratched cd's, but i just bought to brand new cd's and they'll skip ******** sometimes until i let of the brake. Thought it might be the brake light somehow but it doesnt do it when you just activate the lights.

I think it's called "your CD changer is directly over the wheel well".

point?

Im talking about steady braking on smooth roads. Ill hit speed bumps and potholes all day and never have em skip (the brand new cd's that is).

His point is the cd changer is in a very dumb location.

There's a write up over at v8sho on how to clean your cd changer, look there.

It should not be skipping unless you hit a large bump or something.

Mine got to the point it skipped so much I could not listen to a CD. Took the CD player apart and there was 4 gel filled isolator mounts that had all sprung a leak. Got some new ones from a list member who had destroyed his CD player for some reason and it's worked like new ever since.

Bad mount

BTW to change the CD player to a horizontal one you need to move the spring loaded lever so it points to the right.

Hmmmm..... maybe i have my front two isolators leaking. that would explain why braking makes it act up. from the weight being transfered forward. ill take a look at it.

I was thinking about getting a whole new changer. A guy at work said you could find ones that plug right into the factory harness.

Killa I have one out of my 99 that I never used. PM me. I'm not sure if a 99 will work in your car though.

hmm.. i never had any problems with the factory unit, but my aftermarket 10cd is a POS!

maybe it's because i have it unmounted laying in the passenger footwell with about 40 empty cigarette packs?

How do you navigate 10 cd's if your stock head unit can only display 6 cd's. Or did a misunderstand and you have both hooked up somehow.
also i was thinking, if i got my hands on PCROSS 53's unit, could i use the extra cartridge:naughty: . It would be SWEET to have one inside the car to swap out real fast at a stop light or something:cool:

I don't have a cartridge thus why I never used it. I searched flebay for a while but never took the time to buy one. That's the whole reason why I put my then "barely used" CD5435 from my old Dodge Diplomat and put it in my car. Not having a cd player SUCKS.

Supposedly if you put in the 10 disc unit it just automagically works and the disc selections will then go up to 10 (the display can show numbers larger than 6). One place to get them is http://www.cdchangersonline.com/itm00001.htm I haven't used them, merely pointing them out
