On my kit from UPR there was only one installed in line check valve on the clean line exiting the catch can, no check valves in the WOT line. So I only upgraded the one existing check valve. I'm hesitant to cut the supplied line and add another one to the WOT line.

As seen in this pic, things get pricey very quickly. I didn't do a Drain plug or high Flow PCV line or drain line kit. But look at how much it is to add them and one pro series check valve! I think its worth it.....but on a budget its easier to justify this kind of money else where. For healthier engine performace and enhanced longevity ....with high quality OEM looking fit and finish...its really worth it IMHO.

Having purchased 2 years ago, the main functioning design of the kit is the same. Since then, they are offering magnetic drain plugs and drain kits. All this does is aid in removing the contents of the catch can. I'll keep my $40 and open it by hand I don't mind. My point is, it's a one and done kit....even 2 years later.

Took some pics of my UPR Dual Valve CC setup, how to run the lines and also the predicament you encounter with having meth and using your OEM WW tank for your meth tank.

See in figure 1, I had to insecure my mini WW tank and move it to the side(******* to the side) in order to allow more room for the CC(catch can) and CSS insert (oil cap) and WOT line. You can see as well in Figure 1 how the bracket can't reach that that ground wire screw nearby. This mini WW tank needs to be relocated.

Figure 2, 2b show the clean side line that exits the CC on the right and plugs into the intake manifold. This line has the in-line check valve. I highly recommend upgrading to the billet pro series check valve here. Figure 2c shows the pro series check valve, arrows pointing away from the CC towards the intake manifold.

Figure 3 shows the left side of the CC, this is the line from the CSS and WOT. It T's off near the CSS. Figure 3b, 3c, 3d, 3e, 3f hows how its ran under everything to where it T's off to CSS and then to WOT(Pre intercooler).

Figure 4 takes a closer look at the CSS (Oil cap). 4b shows the base of CSS, just like an OEM oil cap it twists into place. From there you can pop the main part of it off but you may need some channel locks or some large pliers to turn the base of it to twist it off if you need to remove it. Circled in 4b is the supplied cap that comes with the kit.

Figure 5 takes a look at the dirty side line. This plugs into the top of the CC. 5b shows its connection to the car.

Figure 6 takes a look at the CC. The bracket is adjustable. In 6b you see mine does have a Drain plug, I suppose I could upgrade to a Drain kit if I wanted to. 6c shows the filtration. 6d shows what can be caught and that is about 2k miles worth of driving.

How long is it taking you all to install these? Catch cans are illegal in California, hate to get caught during a smog check.

Catch can ain't illegal in California just the intake that you have to change back to stock when you get it smogged

Just a quick google search will show that they are. I have always been sent to a test only star station since I have had it. I have been the only owner.

Alrighty then.

Can we please get back on the topic of this thread?

The rails have been twisted enough, and I'm sure viewers searching for this subject matter would appreciate remaining on topic.

Thank you to all.

That said, I am hoping to receive my UPR dual OCC soon. Look'n forward to its arrival.

And I will defend anybody, even if I don't.
Especially if they have been a long time contributing member of this community. Political leanings not important.
I hope you give the same speech to the others. Long time members can say whatever they want, but not I. That’s a good look.
My sincere regrets bpd, I’ll keep it shut.

No worries there JJ.....

No need for you, or others to censure yourselves. After all, discussions are healthy.

I'll just say there's a time and place for everything.

Appreciate your's, and others, staying on topic. Thanks once again.

...biting tongue

Yes, BPD, I look forward to your post with the horrific findings in the amount of fuel reeking oil and sludge you find. The first time I opened mine I was freaked out. I thought I must have had something hooked up wrong sucking out all my engine oil!

Also, I've never asked anyone else who uses one to see if it’s normal but I have noticed I smell oil fairly often with the can installed. I’m assuming I’m not alone so never really worried about it. I’ll get a slight whiff here and there the first couple thousand miles then when it gets full it seems to get stronger and more often.

Oh yeah, good choice on the drain kit too. I think I’ll get one as well. It’s not a huge deal taking it out but kind of a pain. My biggest worry is those plastic quick disconnect clips. Can’t last forever with all the in and outs. I don’t know how many times I’ve dropped one fearing them to be lost forever.

For sure Zpak, for sure....

I will be shocked if it performs as proclaimed, and does in fact collect materials that could be deemed harmful to the engine.

Never lent any thought on the product (as a whole) due ENTIRELY to the long standing recommendations of the previous vendor that I now no longer associate with, and have distanced myself from.

The fact they reversed course, from saying one was never needed, and that using one, or implementing one into the build equation would prove harmful itself, to all of a sudden turning a complete 180 / about face, and say that not only one IS NEEDED, but then claiming their's is the BEST EVER, made me really question not only this mod, but so many more modifications they deemed worthy, or not.

So here I am. OCC ordered, and last check.... was/is supposed to arrive late Friday.

I will be sure to post back my experiences therein. I too had the same concerns about plastic connections being compromised from repetitive connects/disconnects. So YES! I was like "Oh there's a drain line/drain kit? **** yes let me in on that!".

LOL.

Oh and thanks for biting your tongue. Those off topic discussions certainly are worth having. But this community here, is entirely the inappropriate community to do so. Appreciate it my friend.

I've heard a lot about Intake Valve Deposits on other Direct Injection engines, but in the two years I've been on here, I rarely (never?) see anyone complaining about having a real problem.

I do have one, but I wonder if we are all trying to prevent something that's not happening anyway. At least with the 2013+ which has the oil separator on the valve cover.

My 13 has a oil separator on the valve cover and I get this out of my UPR CC every 3k miles.

My model year is the only year that employed a heated PCV/separator from what I understand.
