Does anyone know when ford is going to make this part again. I have been told that it is on back order, but no one can tell me till when. i have waited for over a year and would really like to drive my SHO this summer.

I am in need of this bearing for an '89 SHO.

Find a good used one.Ford made them obsolete almost 2 years ago. They told me directly that it will no longer be made.

As JT said, you should consider a used one. The backorder answer is used for parts that they will no longer make, or will make, just not within any reasonable time frame for someone who needs one in the near future.

I'm sure a good axle shop could custom make up something. In fact I will probably find out eventually, as this is the last stock drivetrian "weak" link in my 89 :D

In the meanwhile, I guess I'll use up my spares.

I cryo it, along with the rest of my car. Just leave it outside during the winter up here in the mountains wink -25F degree nights, slow warm up during the day, back down again at night...etc. By spring the car is bullet-proof.

Carrier bearing? As in differential carrier bearing? I doubt if Ford even made it in the first place, and it sure as **** would not be a special "only in the Taurus SHO" run. Get the bearing number and take it to a real Bearing store. In Phoenix we have a couple of places; Bearing Belt and Chain and Kaman Bearing that are very helpfull in that regard.

The passenger side axle shaft has an intermediate shaft, which is supported from the rear motor mount bracket by a bearing and bracket assembly. It's an E7xxxx p/n which I would imagine was used on maybe the MT-5 or maybe an ****** or a tempo with an MTX-III or something.

If you were getting a custom shaft made anyway, I'm sure they could fit the shaft up with a bearing (or vice versa) and built a hanger bracket like the OEM piece.

Re "special to Taurus SHO" bearings, you'd be suprised. There are a few unique Ford only bearings in the MTX-IV tranny, not available from any aftermarket bearing supplier. As far as I know, these are obsolete: output shaft rear bearing, input shaft front bearing shim, input shaft front bearing. The others are still available through Timken, etc. (diff bearings, output shaft front, 5th gear shaft, etc) Just match up the LM #.

When I got my clutch last summer my mechanic told me that if the bearing was taken off the axle it would destroy the bearing. Has anyone taken off this bearing and took it anywhere to get it looked at? I really don’t want to sell my SHO but I don’t want to be stuck with a car I cant sell if it does go out.
