I was driving the car last nite I parked it shut it off just like normal every day.. I go to start it up this morning and this is what happens. I turn the key and the fuel pump primes, then I turn it on on and all the lights on the dash light up then I turn it to start and not even a click or anything it shuts off the acc's and whne you let go of the key from start position they all turn back on.

I had a problem a while ago the terminals were corodded and when I turned it to start the whole dash would go out. In this case the dash stays lit up so I don't think it's a bad connection.. I had a battery charger on it today and the voltage was at like 14.6 on the battery and I tried turning it over with charger on it and same thing..

I need to get to school asap.. any help is greatly appreciated..

Sounds like a starter issue. Check to make sure everything is tight at the starter. Sounds like the cylanoid took a crap.

Edit: I was poking around at your old posts and seen your intake... I'm assuming you have an MTX... try to push start it.. if it runs.. then you definately need a starter.

MTX intake no egr.. lol yeah it's an atx... a goop of muffler sealer in the hole from the header and bolt it on.. So yeah.. can't push start it. Can you push start a car in reverse? just wondering because if so I could roll back down my driveway with a standard and never have to use my starter ;) haha. but i really need to get the car started, going to get junk clothes on and crawl under there check out the starter connections :( Not in the mood... Anyone got any other ideas while I'm out there i'll check this thread.. :thankyou:

You could always jumper the terminals on the cylanoid. Then you could eliminate that out of the equation. Turn the key on, and jumper the 2 posts on the cylanoid. ( Don't shock yourself ) lol

And no.. its an ATX, you can't push start anything... :( sorry

What year do you have ?

For some reason my '89 has a **** switch to the starter. This switch seemed to had flipped itself off one night after I parked it... My starter **** switch is along the wire to my starter solenoid right behind the snorkel.

(Edit) Sorry, I didn't read your post thoroughly enough...

Like others said, sounds like a starter or bad connection issue to me. Have you done an oil change recently?

I'd start by taking the battery cables off at both ends. Clean up the battery posts and both ends of the cables. I'd also take the starter out and clean up the solenoid of any oil residue and road grime since it sits under the oil filter. Give it a shake next to your ear while it's out too to see if you can hear anything bouncing around inside. When mine went bad a few months ago I could hear something in there. If you have another mode of transportation, you can take it to Autozone or some other store to have it tested for free.

That's what I can come with for now. Good luck.
