Hello! wondering if yall have any recs for aftermarket front/rear shocks and springs for a first gen. I was thinking Koni but I couldn't find any that would fit. I'm pretty much a novice with suspension stuff so any information is appreciated!

Koni has been obsolete for while for SHOs. You might find some that someone might be selling. if you search for "Struts" in this forum, there are recent post of other looking for parts. here is an example of one post. you can probably get the whole strut assembly if you look on Rockauto, they tend to have close out prices occasionally

All of the performance strut options are long gone for this platform. Shosource might be working on another option for coilovers at some point but I wouldn't hold my breath. You will need to post in the groups to try and find someone willing to sell something or buy what you can online. I used to recommend Senatrac struts with Moog cargo coils but those have dried up too. Good luck!

I have been happier with Gabriel Ultras than with Monroe OE Spectrum. I do suggest you verify any shook or strut you purchase these days compresses and rebounds appropriately before you install them as quality has deteriorated in general since COVID.

Avoid ready assembled struts. They are only for the regular Taurus with softer springs than the SHO. If you use Facebook, you could consider asking to join the Gen 1 & 2 Taurus SHO private group with 4.3K members to better contact other SHO Owners.

100% agree on the available pre-assembled struts. The front ones typically have the wrong ( cheaper with less noise isolation) mounts with weaker springs that fail earlier. The rears aren't much better. The proper front mounts are about the cost of a typical pre-assembled unit.

If your springs are OK, then check the rubber on your mounts and replace the mounts along with the struts. Pay the money to get the proper mounts as needed, it is well worth it.
