Is there any difference between a 2013 Ford Taurus SHO 3.5l EcoBoost engine and a 2016 SHO engine 3.5l EcoBoost ?

Hello my name is Brian
I'm very curious about finding a Short Block to fix my 20113 Taurus SHO with Ford has an option and it says its compatible with my SHO when I check it with the VIN number on several Ford parts websites but my local dealership is saying that its not the right one, they said it has a different crank shaft and front balancer but even if it does have a different crank and balancer could it still work as long as my cylinder heads are able to be bolted up to it ?

This is the part number I'm looking at I also will include a screenshot from Ford's website
Ford part # : AA5Z-6009-E

It says it is for all Taurus SHO cars with Turbo so shouldn't it still work even if it does have a few different revisions don't do it ?

I would love to just be able to buy this short box and put my cylinder heads that I currently have on my 2013 Taurus SHO on it and whatever other parts are needed my engine is blown and it doesn't make sense to me to buy a high mileage used motor or spend six grand for a brand new long block any helper information would be highly appreciated what's the difference between this engine if any to any other 2013 Taurus SHO Ford's website says it will work 2013 Ford Taurus SHO even newer all the way to 18 or 19 and it also says that it will work almost and every other Ford or Lincoln vehicle that has a transverse 3.5 L EcoBoost engine it...
Please help my car is down and I need advice before I loose my job, I don't have any other options but to fix my Taurus SHO..

Out there somewhere
The AA5Z-6009-E short block should be correct. What part number is the dealer telling you is correct?

You can send a PM to Irish Pride with your VIN and ask him to verify the part number. He works at a Ford dealer parts dept.

I don’t know what your time frame is but we will have a 2014 engine available soon. It’s in the que to get a waterpump and timing chain.

Did the water pump fail and dump the coolant into the oil or did it jump time from a stretched chain already ?
How many miles ?
What is the price ?
Where are you located ?

The water pump was weeping out of the drain. No antifreeze in oil ever. We change the chain regardless, for $80.00 it’s not worth not doing. We use all Ford parts including the RTV , exhaust studs and hardware. I will be taking pictures of it when we repair it.
Do you need turbo’s? The exhaust manifolds leak on these from twisting under heat cycles. Engine has 90k miles. $1500 with decent used turbo’s. $1200 for just the engine. We ask only one thing. Flush your coolant system and only used distilled water in the coolant system.

That's a 13hr drive for me, I wonder how much it would cost to have it shipped to me In Sterling Heights Michigan 48310....
I have 2 brand new Turbos with billet wheels and I have some low mileage stock ones so I already have that covered..

Fwiw, I thought one of the Ford engine department guys on the forum had mentioned the 13 PP cars had better piston, possibly PP equipped 13 and up?
Yeah I think I recall reading that somewhere also but I can't find it again and if I remember correctly that subject kinda turned into a slight argument but I could be wrong...

So I've been trying to find that out and some info seems to day that the police version has a special coated piston rings or something due to long idle times or something but even if they are different it should still work right ?

They are both using the same Block?
Same Crankshaft, ect, ect ?
Even if it does have a different piston material or different ring material or coating shouldn't my heads still bolt to the block?

Police version has the coated piston skirts, 180 degree thermo, oil cooler. Otherwise the same rotating assembly. 17 and up has raptor crank, (which has a different balancer bolt), and upgraded cam buckets.

The balancer was different on the early sho models before the electric rack. The older balancer has two belt groove sets. 15 started the plastic valve covers. 17 and up has the raptor crank and takes a way different bolt. I have a 17 engine in my personal police interceptor which is a 15. There was no issue swapping them. The newer heads also have an extra exhaust manifold stud hole which prevents the famous warping exhaust manifold leaks.

So the block was the same ?
The cylinder heads should bolt up regardless of what year they are off of or am I missing something ?
I want to use a brand new Ford Short Block
part # AASZ-6009-E that I am being told is compatible for a 16-19 SHO
(except police version)
And I want use my cylinder heads and intake and everything else to make a complete engine to put in my 13 SHO so I can get it back on the road again..
Is it possible for me to use that 16+ sho block and rotating assembly with my 13 cylinder heads, Intake and whatever other parts I either have already or need to purchase new to make a complete and running engine ?
I know that there's some differences between years like plastic valve covers and Even different exhaust manifolds, ect, ect but All I want to do is figure out if i can make it work or not ?
I'd like to thank everyone for all your input and support

2010 to 2019 short blocks are all the same. Well, there are differences but they don't matter. Crank timing sprocket Is different as well as balancer bolt but besides that they are all interchangeable. Just bolt your heads on and call it a day.
