I have a 99....... I don't know if the cams have been welded, but I doubt it. How common is failure? I have 100000 miles on the car and am wondering if I should roll the dice............... How much does the welding cost?

I bought my98 with 96k no cam welds and had them welded this past Feb... I drove it for about 3 months before I had them done and I just took it to Ford Proformance Specialist in Douglasville GA. they were the only one I knew that did it....I think mine was $550 I also had a 60k done and my secondarys wernt opening so i had to buy a IRCM. I think with an over night stay and gas we spent about $1100.... maybe less but like I said I had other stuff done too. Check around and see what you can find.... and good luck

Not a matter of if, but when. Unfortunately there are no firm set of circumstances as to mileage, age, etc. They go when they go. We've seen cars with 12K miles fail, and cars with 200K that hadn't.

Depends on how long you plan on keeping the car. NESHO will hook you up pretty well for a little short of a grand. They also take their cam welding circus on the road several times a year. The usual cam weld service includes alot of other basic maintenence to your intake, new plugs and coils would be a good idea while everything is apart too.
