I have a 1989 SHO (non-ABS) with the '96 front brake upgrade, and a newly acquired, ex-JasonG 1991 SHO with stock front/rear ABS brakes. I want to swap the brakes on these cars (the '91 will be my prime car going forward).

1. I want to move the '96 upgrade from the '89 to the '91. What problems, if any, will the ABS system cause?

2. I want to move the '91's front brakes (hubs, rotors, calipers, et al) to the '89. Again, does the ABS present any problems when moving to a NON-ABS car?

Thanks for any info!

Only difference is in the steering knuckles. The ABS knuckles have a little tab for the ABS sensor. Assuming that the knuckles currently on the 89 are not from an ABS car, you just need to get the knuckles from a 94/95 Taurus/Sable with ABS to put on the 91. You should be able to just bolt the 91 knuckles onto the 89.

The 89' & 91 fronts will swap fine if the abs is a nonfactor. the 91 rear rotors have a different offset than the 89' and that would mean there are other differences in the rear.
