I believe the latter.

There are plans to make use of a thermal ceramic coating as well to mitigate heat.

You are in uncharted territory with the header design, and I hope it works out.

In the early days of the original SHO, the ShoShop company assembled a tube header system. When the dyno numbers came it, it produced less horsepower than the stock cast iron units.

When you get into thermodynamics, most things are not intuitive; rough surfaces can flow more CFM than smooth surfaces due to boundary layer activity, and it goes on and on. Not intuitive at all. Tube size comes into it and there is such a thing as too large a tube, and it is hard to know what is the correct size is without experimentation. Especially in a turbo situation, which upsets all the standard concepts of scavenging and flow design.

Wishing you the best.

I really hear you on that. I am a long time Mustang SVO owner. You wouldn't believe how many headers we've tested over the years looking for big gains. Amazingly enough, a stock, ported manifold makes almost as much HP as a $1500 custom tubular unit.

Thanks fellas. Uncharted territory for sure.

Will keep thread updated accordingly.

Meanwhile, I'm out in the garage working on the middle child's new to her '14 Focus SE w/ "appearance package" that we picked up for her last Saturday. 43k on the clock. New rotors and pads installed. New tires. Fluids swapped and washed it. Thoroughly. Including detailing engine bay and interior. Had windows tinted @ 20% for her. Getting ready to wax and detail exterior now. Fun little car.

This, in comparison to mine, that's hibernating on the other side of the garage, collecting dust and dismantled as expected.

**SIGH**. Someday baby, we'll get her road worthy once again.9d7301c53930e94678d0591007138c99C8913b29a5ac0e0e80e815b0cd14423c005a2ae5e5a417daf4ab07007abc7f8543411a8ad6f17be01058358f1b4415d53e7e3f9502f78ef02a6859ad896c23f97a88c51bd01d7aec7a1ef5d2e89ed8818706471d84859aadd1cdda916217dcc73558cf6fbeba72864556fc2bd6dd81f5Bd741ea1b650c378a962a96c10441def

12/11/19.......

Intake manifold has been completed. In its' entirety and has been sent to powder coater.

Have been told that in order to aid in atomization of the Methanol, an 80 grit medium finish was chosen for final finishing.

Also, the one image with the bore scope is verification that the welding did *NOT* burn through.

Can't wait to see it returned from the powder coater. Impressive work to say the least.

In addition to the above, I heard from the body shop separately this morning and that the bumper cover is being painted today with the proper "UG" paint code. I asked for more pics as the progress continues on that front. So hopefully more forthcoming as requested.

Hope everyone's well. Keep staying tuned!!972fcd702f2c71e5968de3b314df3f8bEc7c4e9f383bce427bab7de2fc086718Dc16831405fe96dc4eb80f1f7986afaaDefb2e2f58c831e1902cec3ee19979a4Bc02aeaf97c15b7c15e17676e4389c55

Addt'l on 12/11/19......

**BONUS!!**

Just checked email and it appears the DP's that PPE fabricated for me, and then sent off to JET-HOT for their 2500 degree thermal ceramic coating are also done in their entirety, and have shipped out one day earlier than scheduled! Sweet!

(image edited to block out tracking #).

I'll snap some pics once they arrive.

How is the shot peening of your PTU going?
Haven't asked. I'm sure it's fine. So many things being done in so many ways, challenging to keep track of it all.

I've been getting updates pretty consistently, so I'm confident when there's something to report on it, the details will come forth.

12/12/19.......

A few more pics of front bumper cover and the upper/lower grilles having been repaired/repainted.

Was told the custom splitter is being prepped for paint today, and should be being mounted to the existing lower chin spoiler/ bumper cover soon. Exciting!!

Really happy with how it's turned out thus far. Removing the old paint protection film was quite the undertaking.

After the proper curing time, I plan on using a newer and better product from "Xpel" for paint protection film.4eb86f2757d2291247302407f25a67961328ef16bc6c400f48342b8bf86114bfEa1e6da9a1d776b8c2de5c105a99e8b7D7a59454bf87c8575fd05562edd200bd

1st exhaust manifold jig complete.

All set to now to gut it open, reduce it to the flanges only, then build it back up from scratch incorporating a tubular design.

So...they might not wanna share, but I'm VERY curious as to the dimensions they'll be using for the build. The pipe diameter and and length, to be specific. I'm assuming they'll just be primary's in to the ****** for the turbo.

I'm asking because there ain't much room to play. If they're gonna build it bolt up to the stock pipe configuration, it's gon' be tight.

Honestly, I have full confidence in them being able to pull it off. Looks like you found a helluva shop to do your work. I assume they realize they're setting the bar...

The owner (of the machine shop) is aware of the status of my car, and the attention it has, and will hopefully continue to receive, moving forward.

Highly specialized and incredibly talented would be stating it mildly.

I am blessed and humbled tremendously for their personal touch/accomplishments thus far in contributing to this next stage of my SHO's life/ownership.

All these minor details really does completely separate your SHO from the next and really the only thing shared amongst others is the silhouette of the body lines(most of them) and the name. Well done Sir!
