Thinner oil may do it. 5w30 is recommended, why the 10w40?

The thicker oil will help take up some of the clearance issues, you know that..:braincramp:

As far as this oil gauge being difficult I don't see the issues here? Getting a holder for the gauge? I'm missing the point here.

1.Jack car up
2.Remove oil pressure sensor
3.install tee
4.Screw factory sensor into tee, screw new Elect or Mec sensor into other side of tee.
5. plump wire or plastic tube into cabin
6. hook gauge up.

Or have I missed that you need to connect the oil pressure gauge somewhere special? is there a thread like the (do not USE fram filters) about where to install the gauge "properly"?

Trainguy, all the posts here are spot on.. Its just something you should consider getting done, you might push it for another year, 2,3, but its like death and taxes, it will happen. So now its up to you to figure out when is a good time just to do them..

Plus, if you dont guys like Eric will ride your balls so bad your eyeballs will hurt if they spin and you make a post about "should-a listened"..:munch:

So you have some time, start searching for rod bearings, oil pan set, some RTV, 4 exhaust studs, 2 bolts and nuts for your exhaust ******, and a gasket for the exhaust ******.

OK, im going to punch my "that was easy" button.

With Federal Mogul, and the other company ACL no longer making them they will dry up at some point.

I am going to replace my bearings. I just have no place to work until spring. It is very cold now in Kansas and leaves and dirt are blowing around now. I have no garage to work in. It should be as clean as possible from what I read. To tell you guys the truth, I have a very subtle knock on cold starts, but give the engine one minute the subtle knock goes away like it was never there. I have had people tell me the noise I hear is from that thin mobile 1 10-30 I run. I have not been able to confirm that the very subtle knock is from the bearings. I am just under the influence as the car warms up the metal expands making the knock disappear(tolerances change as car warms up). This is my daily driver, so I will be real easy on her till spring, unless you guys have any suggestions, ex. thicker oil?

Thanks,
David

P.S. had her at 6000 RPM's the other night without any problems.

You can also go see James in St.louis to get these done....
