I was just wondering if anyone has installed Flowmaster 50 series (3 chamber) mufflers. I've read a lot of posts on the 40 series (2 chamber) but haven't seen any on the 50's.

I'm looking for just a touch of sound outside with little or no interior noise. How about soundproofing the trunk a little better to help control exhaust noise? (I use the car daily and drive my 3 little daughters everywhere.)

What are your thoughts?

P.S. 2 1/4 offset, 2 1/4 offset ... right?

If you do not want it so loud I would suggest getting Borlas or something, something a little more muffled then Flowmasters. And you are right about the measurements. If you do not want the interior to be that noisy then I would suggest not removing the resonator or 3rd cat, popular exhaust mods here.

So, a Borla would be quieter than a Flowmaster 50???? I've heard Borla systems on 5.0 Mustangs, those are louder than I would want. Are there different levels (of sound control) of Borlas? I haven't researched those yet.

Interior noise is not bad at all with the 40's. Are you leaving the 3rd cat and res in? if so a Borla or other similar types of **** are VERY quiet.

None of the Muffs are louder than one another really, its all in the tone you want. Most Bullets are a two chamber or a straight through design anyway wich means they would be Louder when coupled with the loss of the third cat and res being gone.

I would go back and research this a bit to see what you want and compare it to the other companies and what they claim.

I was the very first Gen 3 with Flows of ANYKIND and most of the comments that you read or see are based on the 01 Convention and My car where it was new to everyone. No one in the SHO comunity likes anything new at first. Look now to see how many people have them..

Thge 40 series with the cat and res in are fairly quiet untill you blip the throttle and its exactly what you want. IMO

A Gen 3 SHO with the Borla system sounds like a 2v V8 mustang. VERY quiet and never really roars and you can barely hear it at idle. I see that you beat the car so what does sound in the cabin bother you?

Thanks for the info. For the difference in price I think I'll go with the cheaper Flowmaster 50's and see how they work out.

P.S. That is a genuine photoshop burnout. (I would never try that with my SHO ... I need the tranny in one piece.)

I am sure I am violating some code..... I only am joking.... Kirk (No really) :D

Kirk car sounds great. Though I like mine better... I have Flow Pro's.... tad deeper rumble than Flow Master.... but almost as loud when you get on it.

But mine still has the original coat of paint and is SO beatiful! Unlike your repainted POS :)

Its all in what you like for sound. Let no one make up your mind when it comes to what you want to hear.

I know it was So is carters burn out PIC but they still look cool!
