Anyone elses SHO lose noticeable power with the 80+ temps outside?

hey guys, well the easiest way to explain is, i know cold air is better for going fast and i know you lose some power, but not much! Well the easiest way to explain this is, my gas pedal is firmer in the colder weather and in the warmer temps, my gas pedal became airy kinda, like im pushing it in faster, but the car isnt responding nearly as much as before, i find it hard to believe such a temp of 30 degrees can make such a diff, its like i went from my old sho v6 to a honda 4cyl!

At temp difference will give you a difference, but it shouldn't be that much of a difference. As I suggested in your other post, it's probably better to run the codes and let us know what those are first.

I have always heard that heat makes power..but too much is bad

I notice a small loss of power in the heat, but that is probably due to my A/C!! YES! It works like a dream! That is the best investment I have ever made concering my SHO :D

Oddly enough, the AC on my SHO is like the one thing that has never gave me any problems and just keeps right on SHO'ing up cold every summer!!

5 summers!!! And 80,000 miles after I bought her.

Of course, the AC does affect the power of the car and the temperature goes right past the "N" in normal, about half way between the "N" and the red spot.

Let's see, who do I feel like using the BIG GUN on today?

Hondas with big stupid fins... shoot

What about a bad MAF sensor ? The air is less dense at higher temps. If the mixture does not change properly, you would have less power.

Hot air will absolutely destroy your power in cars, with the AC running or not. It has to do with the molecular state of the air through the temperatures. In a hot air, it's harder to atomize with the fuel as the molecules or more spaced apart. Efficiency is what it's about really. Best way to tell is to take your car to a dyno on one of the hottest days there is, and make them take off the SAE correction software on the computer, so it'll put out the HP of the car, and not adjust it for the temperature. Hit up the same dyno during one of the coldest days, have them do the same with the software. It should be a big difference. You can tell at the dragstrip also. My quickest times have been at the coldest temps.
