Just had the rod bearings replaced on my 94 MTX with 130000 miles. The copper on the uppers was bearly showing and the bottomks had no copper showing. Parts and labor cost me $200 and it took the mechanic 2 hours. It was a wast of money but at least I know the previous owners took good care of this motor.

I don't think it was a waste of money at all. It's good insurance IMO especially if you don't know the history of the car that well. :thumb:

If copper was showing at all IMO they are worn and should be replaced. Its no waist of money getting them changed.

Replacing rod bearing is never a waste of money ...... if you spun the bearing how much would it cost you to replace the motor?

If you haven't learned yet, you will: POM (peace of mind) is priceless. Which means that at $200, you got a steal. ;)
