I have a 95 w/ the JBL package, i am trying to hookup my R.F900w and 2 bazooka 12's I went out and bought a schouch line out converter and used the rear speaker wires and just spliced in off of them. Then i was told the black wire between the black and silver amps was a REM wire. So i spliced into that. Now when i play the radio none of the amps/subs work, and if i pull the connector off my R.F amp the stock SHO sub starts to work again. So to check if my amp was working i jumped it off of the main power cable for the amp, then everything worked perfect, except when i shut the car or radio off my subs hum very loud. I have been told that the REM wire can only power so much is this why its not working, or did i tap into the wrong wire? And what other wire should/can i use?

Test the wires in the JBL harness that have power with a test light. Then run the ACC (power on only when the ignition switch is in the ACC position) wire to the remote on the amp. Only draw back is that your amps will be on whenever your car is on. Even if your stereo is off.

The dark blue wire in the harness going to the black jbl amp is the remote wire. Then it sends a remote signal to the jbl sub amp, Id just tapp/splice into the dark blue wire in the harness its pin 14 or 17 I recall on the connector.

I tested the blue wire w/ a test light and it did the same thing, it killed the stock amp, then i used a DVOM and its only putting out like 6.5 v is that normal i thought it would be 12v i mean that explains why it didnt work to tap off of it but dont seem right that they use a 6v rem. Unless the 12v drops cause its powering 2 amps already? but any way i ran a rem wire under the carpet to my fuse box and tapped a acc fuse so it works now as long as i dont turn the power off on the radio head cause it makes my subs humm like crazy, could that have something to do w/ the gain on the amp or the gain on my line out converter?

for the humming (alternator whine) your high/low converter should have a ground wire. Make sure its grounded properly, I had the same problem in my 94.

Sorry I think I know whats wrong. The Gen1 (89-91) the factory amp used a 12v signal ,but the Gen2 (92-95),they switched over to a 5v signal to power the factory amp. I think I've read somewhere here though of people tapping into the power antenna wire as a remote wire source. So your factory radio isn't sending a strong enough remote signal to turn on your amp. I believe the power antenna is a 12v source.

Quit trying to do this the "easy way" and just run a damn wire from the head unit remote and be done with it. I would never try and splice all the stuff you're splicing, mainly because it's a game of trial and error, and I try not to mess around with my car's electrical system.

Also, the amp remote will not have enough power, as previously stated. It is less than 12v and won't work. Make sure your ground is on clean metal and your power is far enough away from your RCA/line out to avoid interference and alternator whine.
