I have a spare alternator that came out of an sho but i dont know what year model its from.. but i do know it was an mtx.

the spares pully has 5 ribs not counting the outer and inner lip for what its worth.

my cars a '94 mtx.

any way to tell if its compatible without having the recipient car in front of me?

All alternators ever made for any SHO, V6 or V8, MTX or ATX, uses a 6-rib serpentine belt.

You'll need to either post a more thorough description, or preferably a picture of the unit in question.

makes sense.. 5 ribs on pully = 6 depressions or valley's.. so the 6 rib belt fits.

just took a closer took and its got "9B" on the sticker plate along with E9DF-10300-BB THEN A003T00491MA AND 12V 90A 1489 B

was there one group of years that 90amp units were made for? i'd take a pic but my camera batteries are shot.

Technically, yes, but I wouldn't recommend it. Either try to find the right one at a junkyard, or find an auto electric shop to rebuild yours.

This is a 90 amp alternator and the 94 mtx needs between 110 and 130 amps. I'm not an expert but the 90 amp may not be enough for a long period of time.

Experts?
