Hey all, I had a weird happening today with my ABS brakes. Usually when I start my car, the ABS motor pumps once and the light disappears. ABS system passes initial self test. After I get moving on every day except today, the ABS light kicks on at 10mph self test.

I was leaving work today, and the light never came on after passing initial st. I thought that was kinda weird, so when I could, I slammed the brakes, and oddly enough, the ABS system worked as it should until about halfway through the stop, when the ABS stopped pumping the brakes, and the light came on. I should also say that the pedal felt like it was fading during ABS operation. (Maybe pump motor hasn't been bled. How can I bleed ABS system without working ABS and no ABS bleeder?)

I've tried pulling codes in the past, and Tony has tried as well, but all we get from the light is steady on. Any ideas as to what's causing the problem? Initially I thought it was wheel speed sensors, but after today, I'm thinking that's not the case. Please help, I really want to figure this out so I can get some bias plugs, cuz I'm not doing that before ABS works.

Update, was finally able to get the light to flash. pulled the following codes first time through:

22 - LH Front Inlet Valve
31 - LH Front Sensor
42 - RH Front Sensor
43 - RH Rear Sensor
44 - LH Rear Sensor
63 - Pump Motor Speed Sensor

tightened up all the wheel speed sensor connections and applied dielectric grease to all connections. Pulled codes again, this time got these:

33 - RH Rear Sensor
63 - Pump Motor Speed Sensor

Any idea how to fix these issues, also, is there a difference between 33 and 43, and what does the 63 mean???

Thanks, James

I would not be in a hurry to bleed anything.
Have a look here - http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=58540
Until you get a code, it is difficult for anyone to imagine what the issue is.
What year is the car and any other info on it.
You will get a better response if you don't post under the performance section when it is a regular maintenance question.

I guess if you don't want to diagnose it, you can throw parts at it. Here are a few which I think one is your problem, the relay for the pump, the brake travel switch, and the pump itself. If you need the pump, check my classified ad. I have them available brand new and am right here in the DFW.
