I failed PA Emissions test today. My numbers are as follows:

CO- 1.86 out of an allowed 1.10 FAIL
HC- 918 out of an allowed 275 FAIL
NO- 9858 out of an allowed 3600 FAIL

I have no clue what to do in order to correct this. Any help would be great.:oogle:

It looks like your cats have gone through their 9 lives, and then some. They are toast. Ordinarily, I would suggest pulling the SPOUT plug (search that term for detailed instructions), but yours are so far out that even that probably won't fix it. You really need new catalytic converters. And your engine probably needs a lot of help. I would suggest Auto-RX (that specific brand!), as it, and it alone, has been shown in a LOT of SHOs to help engines out a lot, at least for short to medium periods of time.

hmm... high n0x is usually high cylinder temps, right? Is your EGR system working? Do you have one installed?

I haven't checked the codes yet, but it does need plug well seals. The previous owner told me he did plugs, wires, timing belt, water pump recently.

dismantle the catback.....then when they go to hook the things up to the tips.....you'll be fine.....just keep fireballs under the car to a minimum.

Ok, so that won't really work....new y pipe, or find a guy who can pass you for a small monetary amount....

FPS has replacement cats for my Ypipe at $100 each plus shipping plus install. A new Performance Plus Ypipe costs $525 so thats a no. My only other option would be to go with a Magnaflow Ypipe which is like $250, but I've heard about fitment issues and it would be a downgrade from my current pipe.

Borrow that other stock pipe to pass emissions, while yours is out have the cats cut out and pipes welded in their place for a catless y.

What kind of y-pipe do you have now?

well if he has to do emissions, and he's failing cos his cats are bad, I don't think going to a catless y-pipe is going to solve anything. You need to replace the cats. If you're willing to swap y-pipes out twice a year, then I guess go for it... but I think that would be a lot of effort.

Bring your SHO to me. I can do the rest of the 60K service and hook you up with a good stock Y pipe. I stock SHO parts.

I'm in Selinsgrove, PA 17870

Nice, I didn't even think of gutting the cats.

Brian, I'm definitely coming up to your shop sometime. You have some nice cars. I can do 60k's, I just don't have the rotunda tools to do the heads yet.

My 94 mtx has gutted cats and when I pulled my spout connector I passed by 1ppm. ONE PART PER MILLION LET ME SMOG.

I say run the car hard, pull the spout and have him smog it? you usually get a free re-test at least? Anyways its only 40 bucks to smog for me and that comes wiht a free re-test.

I smog and fail my Rx7 every 2 months

The place i get it done at won't let me wait for it anymore so I don't know if running the car real hard before i take it there will work. They used let me wait but they got some new *** management but atleast they not picky about little stuff like everywhere else around me.

This would be my free retest BTW so I really want to pass this time.

I have some Berryman's B12 in hand that I want to put in the tank to clean things out. Any thoughts??

I have a performance plus stainless steel Ypipe. I think i would weld pipes inside the cats to keep the look and integrity of the original pipe.
