After watching a youtube documentary about the process ford took to win the 2016 le mans with the ford gt, i found it quite satisfying to see that the ecoboost in it was actually a heavily modified gen 1 engine, with a oem engine block and head casting. it appears that they removed the variable cam timing completely do to regulations. the fueling system also had one hpfp ran off of each intake camshaft. its a pretty pointless post, but i thought it was quite fascinating that the le mans winning engine was a gen 1 based engine instead of the gen 2. not saying it is a better engine but obviously it got the work done. 13b5b2c4968b2b9a5c68d050d61d3062 EcoBoost top front 1 F7334d096e85e6cc91734414376dc65d

Keeping torque down and RPMs up definitely helps with longevity! A big achilles heel to us is how we make so much torque! We need some cams already!

Your absolutely right, low rpm torque is a killer! With the Toyota platform I have as a project car everyone goes high rpm and big turbochargers to make good power without cracking blocks and such.

I Have seen this chart. Should have included it in my original post haha. Amazing how similar they are really.

The internals yes. Intake manifold and exhaust manifolds are wicked on their setup. Pretty wicked high intake manifold. Would be nice to pick up a rwd version for a project car and make custom manifolds

Haha I mean ford literally handed ken block one of these for his truck... so like we all go to ford hq disguised as ken block and we should be good to go nab a few of these lol

How can we get our hands on some Ford GT heads and cams? Lol...

I know, it's way more than that needed...just daydreamin' here, lol.
Actually.... I have gotten with my parts guy on specifics of the Ford GT and being a Ford GT owner you have to go through your Ford GT Concierge to get the vast majority of the parts and the parts available (usually something trivial like a head light) well... Let me just say they are **** you expensive.

The turbos are the problem guys, not the cams. You add overlap you’re just going to blow more exhaust back into the cylinders and most likely lose a lot of power.

Another fun fact about the GT, they run LeMans at no richer than 0.90 lambda. I’m too lazy to dig up the link but it’s in FIA’s B.O.P. rules.

Your probably not wrong, i mean Factory they are supposed to rev to 6800 and still make power (n/a 3.5). I do know the 3.5 in the trucks 11-16 years all had 9.49mm of lift on the cams and we have 9.0mm on ours. not a huge difference but some. the tiny turbos are terrible on these cars. even the k03 on the 2.7 are sized better for that engine and is why they make such decent power.

I thought the rods in the SHO were cast not forged. I thought the F150 got the forged rods.

Sho has forged rods and billet main caps. Forged however is a very loosely used term when it comes to oem components.
