After watching a youtube documentary about the process ford took to win the 2016 le mans with the ford gt, i found it quite satisfying to see that the ecoboost in it was actually a heavily modified gen 1 engine, with a oem engine block and head casting. it appears that they removed the variable cam timing completely do to regulations. the fueling system also had one hpfp ran off of each intake camshaft. its a pretty pointless post, but i thought it was quite fascinating that the le mans winning engine was a gen 1 based engine instead of the gen 2. not saying it is a better engine but obviously it got the work done.
