Ordered a real big brake kit all the way around from Rotora. I’ve got F & R 380mm rotors with airfoil slotted 2 piece rotors with 6 piston F and 4 piston R calipers in matte black coming. Many colors to choose from and choice of drilled or slotted.IMG 8494IMG 8495IMG 8496IMG 8497IMG 8498IMG 8499IMG 8500IMG 8501

Decided on HeaderShield to get my turbo components wrapped. Based out of Indiana USA. IMG 8469
Paid the invoice today to include wrapping both turbine housings and wastegate housings, both turbo exits and wastegate exit pipes that run through the bumper and fenders and 2 vband clamps that are super close to a tab on both sides of my chin spoiler to prevent heat damage to the chin spoiler. It helps to haggle with pricing so I was able to talk my way into 10% off for the complete package deal. Up to 6 weeks lead time. I will need to arrange and pay shipping to them but not return shipping. IMG 8510

Nice @802SHO thanks for sharing those brakes and calipers. I wasnt liking some of the options out there.
same here, I was going to run the Wilwood superlite calipers that I have now but a guy on a fb group shared pics of his TCE 15” Wilwood upgraded brakes…that got me thinking maybe I just want to go ahead and get those. Then upon closer inspection he had a rust ring all around the 15” 2 piece rotors in the front bc the 4 *** calipers didn’t even cover the whole rotor…so I definitely didn’t want to pay big money for that setup….which brought me to Rotora.

I mentioned TCE and my contact at Rotora hesitated to “bad mouth” TCE but ended up explaining that TCE will just take Wilwood products and machine them down to fit almost anything, not really giving someone a true brake upgrade as he didn’t believe the bore size on the master cylinder was even the same size needed to make the calipers operate properly, and said TCE was more or less the Walmart version of a big brake kit. He said I was in the right place and all their kits are made to order and work with the OEM master cylinder bore sizes for each application making it a true brake upgrade with 30% more pedal pressure and shorter and consistent braking. I was going to keep the rear rotors and calipers OEM or in my case 13+ size and retain the e brake but with the spring 40% off sale I couldn’t help but just get the full package F & R. It’s going to be 6-8 weeks before they arrive. Typically it should be about 4 weeks but they’re backed up.

With a sale like that I can see why they are backed up. Hey keep us informed of the fit and performance when you get them installed.

Also sharing that heat shielding company is appreciated. Too often it's not easy to find vendors or projects that can be performed.

Sharing is caring,

Rotora is having a massive 40% off spring sale ends 5/31/23. View attachment 86955
I asked about 13+ since I have the steering knuckles. I was just looking for the front but fell victim to the sale. I’ve got F & R 380mm rotors with airfoil slotted 2 piece rotors with 6 piston F and 4 piston R calipers in gloss black coming. With shipping and tax just over $4,200 instead of $6,000+ tax and shipping. Many colors to choose from and choice of drilled or slotted.View attachment 86956View attachment 86957View attachment 86958View attachment 86959View attachment 86960View attachment 86961View attachment 86962View attachment 86963
So, do they need a special adapter, or is it just a plug and play type of situation?

Wow—these look sweet! I have a 2019 SHO PP, so I assume I would order the same package. Can't decide on the color!!! I'm thinking . . . racing-red, but the dark-metallic blue sure looks nice, too (maybe even the green!).

I couldn’t really decide on a color so as they say, when in doubt black it out

I too was thinking about ordering them without an install timeline just to take advantage of a nice sale.

Hey, SM105K! You have a pretty fast SHO yet still have the stock calipers and Motorcraft PP-pads, if I'm correct. Do you feel the need to upgrade your brakes? I've been searching for upgraded calipers that were true-engineered upgrades (as the Roteras appear to be) ever since I bought my Marauder in 2003 (when the Wilwoods were the only available option—again, can't stand that logo).

The Rotoras are just so f'ing tempting, if only for the much-improved cosmetic accent they add to the car; e.g., I parked next to a Kia Stinger the other day, and although it's actually a bit faster than the SHO, I was ashamed by my plain-Jane, Motorcraft calipers showing through my rims while the import-Stinger had those bright-red, fancy Brembos on her—I felt like a second-class driver and once again, suffered severe caliper-envy (as I often did with my similarly non-Brembo'd Marauder).

Brembos . . . the Christian Louboutins of brake calipers . . . sigh.

But seeing that my car is unmodified, and not that much of a muscle car in its current state, the need for expensive six-caliper brakes up-front seems wholly unnecessary (I still don't know how you got 500+ lb-ft of torque on your SHO!).

Of course, if I ever arrive at the kind of power you're eeking out of your SHO, the Rotoras are a definite buy.

But that sale-price isn't going to last forever . . . or, perhaps, it's one of those "perpetual" sales, intended only to give the impression of huge savings to prompt prospective buyers to buy now.
I mean it is a bottom 12 car. I have the Powerstop Drilled and Slotted rotors front and back. However, I do run the OEM PP brakes. The only time I really had a hard time stopping was ripping through the mountains with the upgraded ceramic Powerstop pads that came with the kit. I got a ton of brake fade. Once I got back home, I threw those into the trash can. Put the PP pads back on and have had great results.

I am all for upgrading brakes. I think it is one of the most overlooked mods honestly.

Also hitting 500+ tq is pretty common on a good tune E30 car with supporting mods as well with the 3.5 EB. ****.....my 3 liter car is knocking on the door of the 500 tq as well (474 tq). Fun times.

Totally my experience also on old SHO and F150. Powerstop pads not worth it to me. The kits are priced to sell, the performance is not an 'upgrade'. I get high dust dirty Hawk pads.

Same experience for me. I went with Powerstop pads/rotors and ate through the pads pretty quick. I switched to EBC Yellow Stuff pads after that and was not impressed. They may have stopped slightly better but the brake dust was unreal. Within days of washing, all 4 rims had a dust film. I won't use them again.

Possibly UPR? Funny thing - they are literally physically located in my backyard.

Thanks, SM105K! Hey, kryptto—is this the catch-can everybody here likes? I would like to install one soon. Thanks to your post, I found the UPR catch-can for my 2019 SHO—just $349 before options.

UPRcatchcan

Options:

1. Adding UPR stainless-steel magnetic drain-plug.
2. Adding drain-line kit (does this make draining easier—it it permanently attached?).
3. Add hi-flo PVC fitting?
4. Add . . . ?

Definitely adding the magnetic drain-plug (which sounds handy). What does everyone else recommend adding? All of them? Also, it says "plug-and-play." Does that mean there's hole(s) already there to attach the unit—or do we drill them ourselves—or is it simply "installed," suspended by the hoses themselves? Seems like a decent design from this comparison sheet:

@studio460 Hey, this was originally meant to be a PM @Ta2dResqr .

Backstory, nothing secret, I noticed Ta2 deleted his J&L catch can. I installed a J&L can as my first bolt on projects. He told me he bought his car second hand and came with it. Subsequently it wasn't collecting anything and one of the hoses was collapsing, he ripped it out.

I noticed my catch can not collecting anything either, just a brownish dried up drop in the bottom of the can. Now my car is not a daily driver, just a joy driver. So not collecting oil wasn't a big surprise, but concerning considering how drive her.

Ta2 mentioned a catch can setup that "he" - I assume - not trying to offend any female posters - said he was looking at around $500 that received good reviews, but couldn't recall the name. The one I priced out came with all the drop down options.

So my misspost was just me asking was UPR the vendor....

However their setup makes more sense over the very basic setup of J&L which might not be worth the money.

So I am deciding if I am going to replace the J&L.

Thanks!
