I love the chosen word of: SAVAGE!

Your words sounded very much like mine, during the first 5 to 7 years or so of my involvement in this platform.

Had a few hiccups after that time, that indirectly prompted me to throttle back my enthusiasm.

Unintended, unanticipated delays only further served to continue keeping me in that dark, bummed out mindset.

I've had to live vicariously through you (and a few others) who picked up the proverbial reigns, and continued pushing the envelope.

Sooooooooo...... as much as I may have been inspirational in years past, it is you good sir (and others as well) who have kept me motivated, even remotely and quietly, to continue pressing forward.

Which brings us full circle to this platform entirely. We all, and I do mean all.... no matter which GEN of SHO we've owned, have a had a distinct love / hate relationship with these cars. Which leads directly into the friendships formed.

I count my blessings as they, and wherever they occur. I am hopeful for the future, no matter if that brings records, or not. But hopeful to rekindle the bonds of friendships made, and make them even stronger in kind.

I'd place like an emjoi here of a glass of beer, or some other form of chosen liquor, in a visual sign to cheers'ing you, and the great "Purple People Eater" ...... Savage at that. But since the new forum platform makes that impossible, you'll have to trust that it is there, albeit in spirit.

When I start my build, my goal is 550hp to the wheels, not going for any records or anything like that. Yet. Being on this forum is making me think more and more, let's add more competition to the top end of things. This community is part of the reason I'm sticking to this platform, people my age (23) generally don't go for cars like this but I'm currently attending UTI in the ford fact program. Let me tell you, people are opening their eyes up to this platform. Some are getting their feelings hurt...looking at you mopar people. So I appreciate all of yalls efforts to continue pushing this platform. It honeslty keeps getting better and better as the months goes by. My 400hp right now isn't anything special, but give me a bit. I'll be biting at yalls heels soon.✌

There's a pump near my dad's house that is labeled as 110 unleaded. Had major doubts esp. considering the low price, so I asked who they got it from and confirmed directly from the distributor that it definitely IS leaded. From what I can tell the only place that manufactures unleaded 110 octane is Gulf and have no idea where you could even get it. VP also allegedly introduced unleaded extreme 110 octane a few years back but it's not listed on their site anywhere. I've only found it listed for sale on one site and it was like $100/gallon.

I was looking at this kind of stuff the other day removing 90 gallons of fuel from a powerboat and if I had to guess… 100LL Avgas. Which has more lead apparently than leaded auto gas used to use…if I’m getting my facts right

Mirror image (1 standard and 1 reverse rotation) Garrett G25-550 turbos! Internally wastegated w/1bar actuators, vband in and out and .72 A/R! Capable of up to 1100hp but realistically probably around 900 crank.

Bit the bullet and bought these bad chickens for just over 5k. Which was the end result from talking with Matt Robinson some more about his Gen3R and why I sold them. He said I’d likely max out at 550-600 wheel as no matter how big of a wheel you cram in it, the airflow is restricted to the stock housing. I’ve spent a lot of money on my build since 2020 and at the end of the day, I had to ask myself if it was worth it to be around 550-600….and the answer was quickly no. As much as I did NOT want to spend that much more money…..if I didn’t get the G25-550…all the money I spent wouldn’t feel worth it…if that makes sense. I honestly came to the conclusion that I’d rather blow up my transmission than be underpowered by hybrid turbos. I didn’t blindly pick the G25-550, I was between them, G25-660 and G30-660 but consulted with Matt Pohnan who built my engine and who also hand picked these based on turbo maps, efficiency and what makes sense. Some ppl like to say take turbo maps for a grain of salt bc all engines are different but what better person to recommend a turbo based on your engine than your engine builder?

And so the next fun part is going against the grain and reusing my 2013+ ported and thermal coated exhaust manifolds, by doing some cutting, welding, vbands, whatever. I’ve enlisted the help of a friend who tig welds and he loves connecting A to B. Because I’m using my manifolds I won’t be fully optimizing the new turbos, however it’ll be a ridiculous upgrade from all of the current hybrid turbo options. I’m going to cut and weld and add or remove piping to my downpipes to get them connected. That is why they are mirror image, once attached to the manifolds the hot side will be facing the downpipes like OEM. Physically these turbos are only about 3/4” wider and 1.5” taller than OEM. The cold side will be facing upwards, the 550’s can be rotated 360 degrees, so getting the cold side facing up is no problem. Likewise getting another coupler or adding another few inches of piping will be no problem to reuse almost all of my hot pipes and dual CAI.

And I’ll film the steps and process so no excuses for anyone else wondering about this. Likely look for a “overhaul” of future exhaust manifolds/downpipes/exhaust in the future but for now this will suffice quite nicely.

That’s very disappointing to hear that GH Gen3r turbos can only flow up 550-600 whp. I thought these Gen3r turbos could out flow the Atp’s and possibly push beyond 650 whp. I just installed these on my built motor. I was hoping to see 630-650 whp… I guess time will tell… thanks for all this information

That’s not what I was expecting to hear for sure! Mike’s motor laid down 617 years ago with the atp’s. And back then I don’t there was bigger intercooler, bigger injectors, bigger lpfp or E85 blends. Disappointed to say the least that these $3000 Gen3r turbos are maxed out at 600whp. Don’t get me wrong that’s a lot of HP but I’m in the same boat as far as $$$ into my motor and to find out these turbos are done at 600 is not what I wanted to hear

Exactly. Now can they go beyond 600? I would be willing to be they can, I thought his estimate seemed low but he also designed them. Makes you hopefully optimistic he’s really just guessing and doesn’t have a solid number. That’s why I got frustrated and sold them and went the route I did. Which I should have an update on soon.

Sorry, I just SMH'ed so hard it almost rolled off my shoulders. For 700 HP? 700 ft-lb? Try 550 ft-lb. How people so entrenched in the aftermarket can be so clueless is bewildering. No wonder it's taken 12 years for the platform to get to the point you're at now!
