Sorry, I just SMH'ed so hard it almost rolled off my shoulders. For 700 HP? 700 ft-lb? Try 550 ft-lb. How people so entrenched in the aftermarket can be so clueless is bewildering. No wonder it's taken 12 years for the platform to get to the point you're at now!

What do you mean in layman’s terms lol? Are you talking about Matt and his estimate or are you also saying what I hope to make will never happen or that finally I’m on to something and or delusional?

Tying back to our convo a few weeks ago, the notion that your cams are going to make you peak at 5200 rpm is beyond ridiculous. Stock SHOs peak at 5500. Feels like every ATP dyno sheet I've seen peaked past 6000 RPM. An NA 3.5L peaks at 6850, and so does an SHO out of boost. All have the same "sh.itty" cams. The only cars that peak at 5200 are those with a certain turbo "upgrade".

You're addressing the single largest impediment this platform has: obscene backpressure ratio. You're going to make so much power so easily. Like, take whatever you made with those gen3's and add 20-30% at the same boost levels. With no added stress to anything. Just by letting the engine breathe and not succumbing to BS marketing of rod twisting nO cOmPrOmIsE tUrBos.

**** yeah! That’s what Max Power was saying I should make 600 wheel on a low boost 13-14 psi tune and that the GHGen3R would be so far out of efficiency it wouldn’t even be funny.

I agree 100 with the peak rpm. I remember early 2020, my first round of revisions with AJP (Brad) the car was slower at the track with less weight the first time I went. I was like what the……? So I start looking at my current data log, compared to last years data logs….Brad must have drank some of the peak rpm cam Kool-Aid bc I noticed he had me about 5700 rpm shifting. 2019 it was 6200 rpm. I didn’t make huge changes from 2019 to 2020 only minor improvements so I loaded up my last 2019 revision and went out and ran about 2 tenths faster than my latest 2020 tune revision. I shared with Brad what I did so he changed my newest tune, then from there I changed from 93+meth to E30+Meth.

Point is, even without knowing much about what cams we have or this or that, I came to my own conclusion that it was blatantly obvious my car was much faster at 6200 rpm than 5700. And shifting earlier was counter productive.

Just for reference. A guy here in the AZ Lexus community has a 2 1/2 inch down pipe on his 2J with a 76 mm turbo. He stepped up to a 3 inch down pipe and picked 70 hp on the same boost and decreased this turbo lag by almost 1000 rpm.

I don't think anyone thinks the cams are limiting power to 5200 RPM. Obviously restrictions are causing the problem. Better cams would improve breathing at higher RPMs. But they would likely really only come into effect above 6500 RPM if we did have better cams. Breathing in the is everything, but you need to Exhale as well.
Being able to use more of the RPM range has an add on effect as well. You stay in that particular gear longer and benefit from the lower gear ratio torque multiplication. So I'm all for staying in the lower gear longer when possible.

Edit: I wonder though if short shifting from 1st to 2nd might help.

Lol well that is extremely optimistic. I was thinking 600 whp around 18-20 psi.

Hopefully I can tell you, although I don’t see any Mustang dyno pulls in my future. Tuning for time only. Dragy will be my time dyno. Tuning for a 10 sec street pass before hitting the track. I’ll be able to report then what psi it took to accomplish that goal. *no nitrous*

600 wheel is going to be my 87 octane tune :laughcry::laughcry:
