03/10/20......

Engine builder retrieved numerous parts from powder coater today.

He's leaving most of them packaged up, until ready for install, as he doesn't want to see any of them get damaged.

He did however unpack the intake plenum, as he has to bend the lines and install the individual injectors from the Pro-Meth kit next.

Here's pics of that alone.....Fbe4cc9d56817c453b6379f206ce707cC4e8d1c07fddaf04fbb8d37d726954df6e3d3b8d37e671a2f56c7e1b8138a434

That came out really nice. And to think, just a few months ago it was cut in half.

Did you ever secure a spacer to run?

I have *NOT* acquired the phenolic spacer that has been proposed being offered.

Which reminds me I need to post an inquiry on how those are coming along.

Not just for me mind you, but on behalf of everyone involved.

Last I heard there was another planned revision in the works, then another test fitting, prior to green lighting mass production of them.

Thanks for the reminder!

So many trains running down separate tracks, it's challenging to keep track of everything.

This is true. Which is why I have so many more items within the engine bay being PC'd.

My thoughts on the cover alone, especially since it is illuminated underneath, are to simply hang it in the garage, as wall art.

I'll run some wires to it, coming from the same source that powers my giant illuminated SHO signage, and wallah!

After all, it does hold some degree of sentimental value to me. Would be silly to get rid of it.

I’m assuming progress has slowed but I hope Illinois knows your build is ‘essential’ to the SHO community.

But in all seriousness, hope all is well.

Regrettably, I have not heard much.

Was hoping for some assembly work to have been performed, if not near completed by now, but last I stopped by there, it did not appear any assembly work had begun.

Remaining hopeful though.

Hope you and everyone else is surviving this nonsense and all come out safe and sound.

My local machine shop (that has my heads) is still plugging away. The store front is curb side only at this point.

As of last week they were " en route" to the tester but unsure who Steve ended up sending them to...

Been a lil quiet, yea? Well besides the COVID-19 pandemic slowing things down, my engine builder also re-injured / re-aggravated his back (sciatic nerve specifically) which was causing numbness in his one leg, and in turn, severely hampering his ability to just simply walk around, yet alone consider performing any work of any kind. On my project, as well as any/all others.

So, in the interim, and thanks to my long time mechanic friend who's also been instrumental in this process, was able to source an existing/used flywheel. Which I've since sent off to an aftermarket vendor for inspection and/or potential upgrading.

Important to note, all 2010's, and 1st half of the 2011 model year's, employ a 4 bolt pattern flywheel. As you see in this pic, it is a 3 bolt pattern. Why the change? Well, the upgraded TQ sourced from GH is a 3 bolt (also shown in pic). Soooooooo the change was necessary for that reason alone, but moving forward, I wanted to be able to convince the vendor I sent the flywheel to, that there would be a larger market for the 3 bolt pattern, as more of them are "out there" versus the 4 bolt. Anyhow, still waiting to hear on that front.

Hopefully should be hearing from the trans vendor soon as well.

I may consider reaching out to DSS for axles and/or drive shaft options. Even if custom. This may be contingent on funds however, as once again, due to the COVID-19 nonsense, all overtime has been eliminated. All secondary employment also eliminated. Alternative, emergency scheduling now in effect, and minimum staffing has been LOWERED to historic levels. So, although I count my blessings for still having a paycheck coming, the pandemic is drastically effecting extra income. Ugh.

Finally, I received the following message from the builder over this past weekend (quoted and highlighted in bold)....

"Block is all final cleaned, prep'd, and final measured. Setting bearing clearances is what we were working on during the week. Piston rings have been filed and fitted. Just need to do the assembly and start gathering more measurements to set final compression and acouple other specifications." ----Max Power

So it seems his back is better now, and he's back at the shop get'n 'er done!

Builder also said he hoped to get some pics sent my way this week as well. So, just a little update. Hope everyone's well, staying safe and healthy, in these trying times.

I wonder if TCI would be interested in producing a SFI Flexplate for our platform. I wonder if we share the same flexplate with the F150 crowd. I did a quick search on TCI's website and didnt see anything. That maybe a selling point.
